Offline | My first time......... Well MINI has just had his first service. 4months and 10,000 very enjoyable miles since I picked him up as a shiny new toy, the service indicator says I only has 100 miles left. So I made the call. My local dealer is on a seperate site (by about 3 miles) from its BMW showroom where all servicing is carried out for BMW and MINI, so not having been in there I rang my sales guy and asked who I needed to speak to. Five minutes later, as promised, I received a call from the Service Advisor. Good start. "We can get your car in tomorrow" I was told. Even better. "I'll drop it off on my way to work," says I, "Be there about 8-8.30. Any chance of a lift to work?" (about 4 miles). "Sorry sir, our drivers only stay locally for the first hour or so. Why don't you make it 9.30, they should be free then?" No, I'll be late for work. "What about a courtesy car then?" "Sorry sir, 3 week lead time if you want a car." "Alright, I'll ask a colleague to pick me up" So I drop it off and everything goes well. Ensured my details were all correct, took a note of my number and said he would call when it was ready. Now this isn't really a moan, but.............................. At 1.30 I get a call to tell me my car is ready. "Great, I'll get a lift over" I arrive, meet the same guy I did this morning and he explains what work has been carried out. "I'll just get your car sir." Arrives with it and says, "It would appear that it hasn't been washed. I can have it done for you after the guys come back from lunch if you want to wait half an hour." "No, I'll just take it. Thank you anyway" Now, everything has gone well, but the experience was slightly tainted by this. Why ring and tell me that the car was ready, when clearly it wasn't? I know I have TLC and it didn't cost me anything, but I just felt a bit like a poor relation to a BMW customer. My friend uses the same dealer for her Cooper (upon my recommendation after a great sales experience) and she has never had hers washed either! A bit of a let down, but not one to go on about. I just want to see what happens next time. It's not the size of your stick, but more the magic in your wand |
