I did -- and he was a big personality. A real MINI enthusiast. Sadly, I heard Herb fired him, so now he might be in Peabody.

He had a great bracelet that had minis running all around his wrist.

He really showed how the MINI handled, and pushed me to have fun with the test.

Thumbs up

I also tested with Hrach last week in Peabody. He doesn't seem to be having an easy time with the staff there either, which is really too bad, because he really understands how to take his time with a potential customer. Test driving with him was a blast, and he gave a good perspective on the new Mini vs. the classic ones. When it came time to put in the options though, it all became a bit more difficult.

I think he's the president of the New England Mini Owners'Club.

Last I heard Hrach was still at Peabody, but I'm not sure for how long... He's rather larger than life... We turned up in our Mini to test the S and he walked away from the people he was with and started talking to us and it was really hard to get away and get into the showroom..! It's great to have someone that enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the cars, but I'm not sure he's very good at "fitting in".
FWIW Ron was also good at urging us to "go for it" on certain sections on the test drive. Do you think Peabody pays off the local police not to point radar guns at Minis..?
And I think you're right about him being president of NEMO - he's definitely something to do with them.

Any word of a NEMO / Boston area MINI meet...?

I'm sure there's a website somewhere... Let's google, shall we? I wonder if staunch Mini owners would welcome new MINIs to the club...

Hrach

Hrach is a wonderful person with a heart of pure gold, featured in the video "Minis Across America" and probably one of the hugest Mini and MINI experts in the entire world!
Any MINI dealer would be blind not to see this and mighty foolish, in my humble opinion, to exclude him from their force of Mini Motoring Advisors.
His enthusiasm for the car is boundless and this is the best possible thing for MINI, to have employees who LOVE the product, as Hrach truely does.
You can quote me on that.
Happy Motoring, all!

Exclamation

Based on what you folks have said, I stopped by Peabody today to meet Hrach and go for a test drive with him – even though I’m dealing with Brig (his day off)! What an amazing guy! He definitely is larger than life and has an unending number of stories to share. Unfortunately that meant it was almost an hour before the test drive so, don’t deal with Hrach if you’re in a hurry or don’t enjoy a conversation!

The drive was unbelievable, he had me constantly pushing the car (Cooper with 15 inch wheels) to the redline and taking bends faster than I ever have before or even thought possible! My initial concern was left behind as we headed into the second bend and it just got better from there, and you just know the car could have taken those bends much faster too! Wow! I wouldn’t want to live on these back roads that they use for test drives!

What a great experience, both with Hrach and the car. He’s a bit over the top for some Customers though and some of his stories could offend some people! And I’m sure the other Sales personnel don’t know what to make of him!

Got my Mini S yesterday, and meet Hrach for the first time.
What a character! He had me laughing and smiling the whole time my salesman(Ron) was trying to give me the in's and out's of my car. "you gonna let this kid drive his car or not?" he would say. He took pictures of me with the car, said he would send me the doubles. Best part is his museum is literally a five minute walk from my house! I guess he's there most nights. -he said "what am I gonna do. . .go home?? I have to go to the garage to count my MINI's!"

Looks like I have a new buddy to give me the inside scoop.
By the way: the car is absolutely awesome!
I never would have imagined the amount of attention the thing draws.(even in boston)

After I picked it up, two fellas in a pick up were driving 80 mph along side me for miles on the highway, windows down and yelling praise about the car with smiles and thumbs up all around. couldn't be happier!

Talking Hrach

For those of us in the classic Mini world, Hrach has been a dear friend for years. We affectionately call him the "crazy Armenian". He holds the honoray title of "President" of NEMO - that way he can never be unseated as he is truly a Mini classic. There are, however, elected officials that rotate through elections.

As for his museum, it's actually in his bedroom and basement. Ask him about his bed sometime - it's a twin bed and the bottom of it is the bonnet (the entire front end) of a classic Mini. He has to turn his feet sideways to slide them under the bonnet when he goes to sleep at night.

He is a wonderful person but a lot of people don't understand him. All you need to know is that he has a heart of gold.

Hrach at Peabody

If anyone in the Boston area has been to Herb Chambers and cannot stand the attitude, then definately get up to Peabody and talk with Hrach. I took my test drive and placed my order on Saturday past, and Hrach was everything from helpful and patient to philisophical and enthusiastic.

"Oh yes... I've taken this corner at XX mph" *jaw drop*

I would recommend him as a sales agent to anyone looking for an introduction not only to the car, but to the past history the car and its company represents.

Peabody dealer

Just ordered my Cooper S from Peabody, they're just down the street from me. Have talked to pretty much everyone since they opened, including Hrack. Interesting and talkative guy. Brig was my salesman and knowledgable about options. Seems like a good dealership.

They did require an appointment for a test drive, but considering the traffic in the showroom, I can understand.
