Westchester MINI in Elmsford, New York

On Friday flew from Denver to New York to take delivery of my Cooper S from Westchester MINI in Elmsford, NY.

Overall an excellent experience. My MINI Motoring Advisor is Lori Abrams (aka MINIQUEEN on the Roadfly MINI forums). She was totally on top of all the details. Everything was exactly the way she said it would be.

Westchester MINI is selling at MSRP with no mark-up or forced accessories.

I did get the Bonnet Stripes, the rubber mats, and the R90 wheels, but that was all my choosing. For the wheels, they swapped over my run-flats and wrapped my S-lites up. The S-lites were already in the car with the rear seats down when I first saw my MINI. Pricing of all accessories was straight out of the MINI accessories . I did pay for the labor to swap the tires over, but that was totally fair in my estimatation.

If anyone is contemplating an out of state sale, I would highly recommend Lori and Chris at Westchester MINI. If you are fortunate enough to be local, you're very lucky to have such a cool and fair dealership as your local MINI dealer.

I got a call from Chris @ Westchester today for my S specs for an August delivery.( One month early) I've only been on the list since May. WOW I'm so excited. My dealer here in KC had $900 add on requrements and over a year wait for an S. Paying MSRP @ Westchester with no required add ons. except I'm ordering rubber mats.

Dark Silver / White Top/ Premium/Sport /Lapis Blue leather

(decided on the lapis instead of leatherette)

Thumbs up

So far our dealings with them have been quite good.
After doing the MINI shuffle here in SoCal for a few months, we punted and went with Westchester. Looks like we'll be getting an early '03 S in 5-6 months ... along with a great road trip.

As many of you may know, Westchester MINI is one of only two BMW corporate owned MINI dealerships in the US (the other is MINI of Manhattan). As such, it's reasonable to expect they would tend to do things 'by the book' as well as have an inside track resolving any issues with the corporate offices. One of the pleasant results of this is they sell MINIs at no more than MSRP and don't require the mandatory purchase of a bunch of MINI accessories just to complete the deal (as many other MINI dealers do).

In early June 2002, I flew from Texas to NY to purchase my Cooper S from Lori Abrams at Westchester MINI, and I was pleased with the process. Communication was from Lori was very good by email or phone, and she was knowledgeable about the MINI answering my many questions. The sales process went very well and I would recommend her to anyone who wants to buy a MINI and wants to be treated professionally.

However, I was disappointed that my new car was not programmed as promised with the 'memory functions' which I had previously requested (e.g. follow-me-home headlamps). The service department said they couldn’t program it, as BMW had not sent them the latest software to do so! Since this was a one of the two BMW corporate-owned dealerships and they had been selling MINIs for several months, it's hard to know if this was a dealer problem or a corporate problem, but I was the one who was inconvenienced because of it. The service manager, Maria Alves, apologized and has assured me she will work with any other dealer I’d choose sometime in the future to sort out my car’s programming at no charge to me. I will take her up on that once a dealership opens here in Texas.

So, overall definitely a "thumbs up" for this dealer from me.

Service Problems?

Has anyone else out there had a problem getting a service on their Mini at Westchester Mini? They gave my girl a service appointment for here seats that no longer tilt forward or back 3 weeks into the future. I'm concerned about the seats failing if something happens between now and then.

I also get the vibe there that they don't have time for the mini... They don't service mini on Saturdays. It took me four trips to simply get my license plate bracket screwed on to the bumper... and I've called with a question or two and have not heard back from them. They also don't have the software to fix my S's cold start problem or re program the computer convenience features.

Corporate-owned?

I didn't know that the Westchester and Manhattan Mini dealerships were owned by BMW. I have been dealing with Manhattan Mini service and they don't seem to be prepared for the demand that they are getting. Or maybe they didn't forecast so many problems.

The service rep I have, Houman, is terrific but the actual service is lackadaisical to say the least. I'll post my experience in a Manhattan Mini thread.4
