Hi there, newbie to all this. Getting my MC tomorrow (pause for big grin moment) ordered it only 3 weeks ago and saw it on Monday at my dealership - guess just lucky with timing and being UK. Sympathise with you stateside waiting patiently, how good will it be when it arrives though....

The owners' lounge still says that my MCS is 'on order' but the automated system at 866-ASK-MINI says that it's in production, with a scheduled completion date of April 4th! I can't wait until it gets here!

Ordered yesterday ( Mar 25 ) and luckily got an April production date too. The first dealer had said April was available, but then when I went to order they said only May was available - and Mini hasn't given those allotments out yet. Sounded like a mid June delivery to me, meaning missing the entire Spring in my new convertible! Enough to make me check out other places, and that same morning dealer #2 had a slot for April available. Mini's site has my order as received - the dealer believed it was going to be produced in early April. Anyway, can't wait

My baby is a MCSC,
- cool blue
- white stripes
- premium, sport, and cold weather packages
- leather
- auto ( sorry, I drive in traffic a lot

)

Now I need a business trip or something to pretend to take my mind off of this for a week

Anyway, good luck to all, and did you add anything to your order since the day you ordered?

Yea! My production just changed too. It's now in production with a scheduled completion date of April 1st (no foolin'!) Boy, I'm just BARELY in the April group

Hoping for a ship that leaves right after production, but more likely it would be the Liberty leaving Southampton on April 8 or the Manon leaving April 9. Otherwise it won't be until the Integrity leaving on April 15

Waiting patiently.

Geez, I feel like I'm on the fast track a bit. Last night when I called AskMini they were saying order was received. They are now saying Scheduled for Production, but a completion date is unknown. I'm not as far as long as you guys, but its closer, I guess. The dealer originally said the week of April 9th, maybe I'm in the wave after you. Congrats on the progress

Interesting. My car (MCS) is 70644XX and scheduled for completion April 3rd.

Interesting indeed. My production number is 70804XX and they told me it would be complete on April 1st. I'm not getting very many options. Are you? Maybe yours got moved back a bit due to the "waiting for parts" scenario???

Does anyone know how they schedule the cars to be built - meaning do they schedule a week at a time, or a couple of days at a time? Since Skatemom, bobdobbs, and nilo all are scheduled for completion in the first week and my dealer thought my car was supposed to be built the 2nd week ( week of Apr 9 - I believe its week 15 ), then my guess is they schedule a week at a time. Anyone have any other thoughts? If I'm right, then I would expect to get a schedule completion status next Monday. It really is hurry up and wait, but I like seeing others like you having progress, and you have been waiting a lot longer than me - now its my turn!

My vehicle changed status today, its in production with a scheduled completion date of April 7th

Can you see me floating on air right now! Geez, I just called last night too, after not calling the day before and it hadn't changed status. VERY VERY COOL!!!

Has anybody figured out the boats sailing around then? Will look at it today.

Just called ASKMINI and the human said it's still in status 150 (production started) but if I call tomorrow I should be able to get the status changes (body shop, paint shop, etc.) The timeline for our 2nd MINI was 6/10 started prod, 6/19 prod. complete, 6/21 received at terminal and booked on the Turandot. So it got to the docks pretty quick. I'm hoping for either the April 7th Liberty or the April 9th Manon, they will arrive at the NEAT in New Jersey on the 16th and 18th respectively. If I'm not so lucky I'll be on the Electra leaving port on April 11th and arriving the 20th. Either way it's earlier than I expected when I started this whole thing, so I'm happy.

I listened to their video in the owners lounge, and I thought they said they ran 7 days a week, three shifts a day - essentially ran 24 hours. Would have to to keep up with the demand. As long as they take their time building our cars, right?!!!!

I searched the site and read the FAQ, but couldn't figure out how you find out your VIN number. Do you have to ask your MA, or can 866AskMini tell you that? And anyone know what stage a VIN gets assigned - is it before production, during, or at the end of production?

The AskMini number is very cool, the owners lounge has great information in it, but is not worth tracking your car ( mine has never updated on it ). Anyway, its Spring in New England now ( going to hit 70F's tomorrow ), and can't wait to be enjoying it in my new car with the top down!

fjpatriot,

You should already have a VIN number assigned if your car has a scheduled date of April 7th.

Go to the owner's lounge and then click on "Your mini" link then click on "Service Log". Your VIN should be displayed there. This is good to know in advance so you can quote the premium through your insurance company ahead of time.

nilo - thanks for the info. Since it just changed today to in production w a completion date on AskMini, the web site hasn't caught up yet. Still says on order, and does not have a VIN. I'll keep monitoring though - and thanks for the insurance heads up, need to do that. Bet the insurance will be a bit higher than my current 11+ year old car
