My baby is in the paint shop now! Next is assemby and final assembly. ASKMINI human said final completion will be tomorrow as scheduled. Yeh, they are all going down the line together

fjpatriot, if you call ASKMINI and request "customer relations" the rep will give you your VIN. I got mine off the Owners Lounge track your baby thing. Go to Review Order Detail. If the screen appears empty you can go up to View, then Source. I screen will appear with a lot of code, but if you sift through it you can read your specs, including your VIN. It's about 3/4 down the page.

The next ships to leave are Courage April 2, LIberty April 7, Manon April 9 and Electra April 11. Fingers are crossed

Skatemom - very neat trick! My VIN showed up this morning under the service log. I looked though at the html source and everything was listed, including the VIN - thanks! I called the human on AskMini and they haven't gotten an update since Mar29th, so they could not tell me anymore details about where it is. Still scheduled to be done Apr 6th/7th. Hopefully it gets the fastrack on the Manon, but if not the Electra then. My birthday is April 27th, and it would be very cool if it came in around then - which if it can get on either of those ships and some luck may be a possibility!

Skatemom - have you tried seeing if its booked on a ship yet w the vin, or do you have to wait til production ends??

Can't take credit for finding the vehicle spec in code. Someone else posted it and I just remembered how to do it.

I've tried putting my VIN in on the WW site and it comes up with nothing so far. I guess I'll have to wait untill it is booked as "received at port".

Another day down, how many more to go????

I was pondering the alarm, and noticed that invisashield(sp?) is an option - I'd think it be included. The alarm thing is my past two cars ( covering the past 19 years ) had alarms in them. I'm trying to get over it, since the Mini has the computer chip key, and did anyone look at the installation guide for the alarm ( its on NorthAmericanMotoring )? Even with it pre-wired they have to take a bunch of stuff apart, and I don't want people not at the factory doing that to my baby Seriously, my dealer lists it as $399 for the convertible, and then I think it would be 3 hours install - that's $699+ for a stinking alarm - I can get lojack cheaper than that.

Really do want the invisashield stuff though, I think it would be a good protector of the front end, without having to go to a bra which I never liked the look of. Anyone else considering it, or am I mistaken and it comes with every Mini?

Skatemom - I've been trying my VIN and it doesn't work either, guess we have to wait til production ends - and your's is coming up A new month started today, and hopefully my car will be here around the 27th - my BDay

Well it's official, my car is running off the production line today!!! Will be with the dealer on the 4th of 5th - yippee.

Then they have to PDC it, and fit the aux driving lights, so a littlre more of a wait

So it looks like I'm one of the rare people that straddles the March and April production group. Now I'm wondering if the production date under the bonnet will say 1st April 06

Called ASKMINI today and the automated thingy still says I'm in the paint shop, but that's what it the human said on Friday, so the automated thingy must just behind. Yesterday they confirmed that production would be complete today so mine should be rolling off the production line too! Congrats Ayde-bury!

fjpatriot, I'm definintely getting the clear bra. Since I'm driving my baby back to Calif from Ohio, I don't want any more dings and nicks than I can help. Won't be able to get a coat of Zaino on her until I get home either. Not getting the alarm, but I will be installing the iPod cable when I get home. Rather, hubby will install it. He's good at tearing down a MINI and putting it back together. Of course I'l be helping and making sure that everything is done PERFECTLY>

Hi all! I guess I just found out I'm part of this April prod. group too! I ordered in MI on March 25 and my prod. # is 70701XX. I just found out that it's scheduled for completion on April 11. I hope you'll all be able to help me figure out how to track it by boat and everything. It's all a bit overwhelming!

stacey, Congrats on your car...and purple too!

I noticed your production number is before mine yet my car is finished (yesterday) I guess the production numbers are not related to the actual build schedule.

Read the threads about tracking and you'll quickly learn. It's pretty straightforward.

I ordered my mini march 19th and today i was happy to see the little track your mini dot had moved down to "scheduled for production" It should be here sometime in april!!

destynie, if you haven't called 866AskMini, its much better and faster updated than the web site. If you ask for customer relations you can get the detailed status of where your car is at in production, once it actually starts production.

FYI - my car has been scheduled for production for almost a week now, with a scheduled completion date of Apr 7th. I called today and the status has not been updated at the plant since 3/29 ( last Wed ). The customer relations person explained that cars get scheduled and an end date estimated, but won't start production immediately. He said though once it does start production it can be completed in just several days, definitely less than a week. Here's hoping mine started today sometime!

Did any of you order invisishield, and want to share how much it cost you to have it installed? I keep finding that Mini has some great options, but they cost 2 to 3 times as much because of the installation costs... Take the alarm for instance. For the convertible its listed as $399 on my dealer's site, yet requires 3 hours of to install, which depending on your dealer @$100 or more per hour almost doubles the cost of the alarm. I'm seeing more so with the invisishield.

I just wish the factory would install this stuff, so the cost would be included with the car, and the installation would be done while the car is being built. I'm explicitly not doing the alarm because even though its pre-wired a lot of the car interior still needs to be taken apart. Not that I don't trust my dealer, they have been awesome - just want things to be as they came from the factory, and don't want to add additional $1000s to the cost of the car...

I have just heard from the dealers that my car should be with him next Monday He might be able to give me some Reg plates to pick from today, lol Is it sad that I'm looking forward to that bit too?!

I feel so silly three (or more that I won't admit to) times a day - "Vehicle Production Number." Isn't there some number you can push instead??? I've started to observe myself in my inflections everytime I call. How happy I am at this hour to be calling and waiting to hear the same voice tell me the same day that my car will be born. It's exciting and overly anticipating at the same time.

I know what you mean, I always feel like I'm interrupting the guy when I say, "Customer Relations" or "Vehicle Production Status" before he even gets his whole spiel out. Then I tell myself, "It's just a recording...".

I'm at that state of limbo right now. My car is done, ASK MINI doesn't have any further information, my VIN doesn't show up on the WW site. I'll just have to start bugging my MA I guess.

After one time where the voice recognition failed twice in a row while entering my production number, it asked me to use the number keys. I figured number keys would work for other options as well. So the next time I called, after waiting for it to say to stay on the line for further options, I tried hitting '2' for Vehicle Production Status, and that worked. It will then ask for your production number or last 7 chars. I then entered my production number using the phone buttons. It will then ask if what you entered is the production number or the VIN (since it can't distinguish between numbers and letters), press '1' if you entered the production number, otherwise press '2'. Works great, and I no longer have to worry about my coworkers wondering what I am doing. For options other than Veh Prod Status, try other numbers.
