Dear eBrit: All of our family has been having great fun thanks to your wonderful efforts! Each day we find out something new about the progress of our MINI, aboard (we hope) Aida. Indeed, we are sure that one of your photos shows our Max (red, white roof) driving on board the vessel.

We'll buy you a pint next time we come to Southampton!

We're on board!

I have just checked WW again for our Aida booking, and find for the first time "Loaded on Vessel 27/07/92 16:57". So I guess we're on the ocean! (Our MINI had arrived at the dock on 20/07/02).

Hope the rest of you find the same message. Good luck.

You can search for ship call signs at http://psix.uscg.mil/psix2/vesselsearch.asp.

The call sign for the Isolde is 9V5544. It was built in 1985 and flies the flag of Singapore. It can carry up to 5,290 cars! And it was last inspected by the US Coast Guard on April 3, 2002.

Post Aida Cargo Status

Looks like *some* of the cars have been updated in the WW system, though not all I suspect will show the proper status for a day or two more. I think their system is updating NOW since it is very slow and I cannot get any responses on the last booking #.

Hopefully, any who miss Aida will get Isolde. Two things for those of you who did not get loaded to keep in mind:

1. Check back tomorrow and Wednesday to see if the system updated your status. There is a chance that you car is not updated yet. Also, you may find yourself assigned a new booking # for the Isolde.

2. When you show as being "assigned" to a voyage # and ship, that does not necessarily mean you have a firm booking on said vessel. WW apparently places cars on a "wait list" in various bookings (may even just be part of a booking #) so that cars can be loaded if there is room. They do this so that say cars or a big piece of equipment was not loaded in an earlier port they can utilize the space later in the voyage. Unfortunately, the WW web-based tracking system does not reflect whether or not a particular piece of cargo is in this wait list status or is indeed firmly booked.

Here's a run down of booking #s I found in this thread:

GBSOU85130E (100%)
3 cars, all loaded on Aida
These cars were stragglers that arrived at port on June 14th (can you imagine waiting more than a month!!)

GBSOU85206C (49.5%)
101 cars in this booking #. 50 show as loaded on the Aida at this time - just under 50%. Some of the cars date back to July 2nd and July 6th from a random check I performed of cargo ID #s.

GBSOU88296A (99.3%)
138 cars in this booking #. 137 cars show as loaded on Aida at this time - nearly 100%. The one car that missed it was TE12046 and that arrived at port on July 18th.

GBSOU88327
569 cars in this booking #. A small % of cars look to be loaded but I cannot tell as the system stopped responding to queries.

Jason

PS - Still cannot figure out if my car has been loaded or not since the booking # associated with my car still shows booked on the Takasago, which is really old information.

Super Cool Stuff here folks

HI, My MCS isn't even built yet, but it's been fascinating reading through this thread. I sure hope when I get close to going to port that there is some kind soul like ebrit to also repeat this sort of fantastic updates at the port. At the very least, I've kept all the website of interest that have been posted here, ie. call sign, WW, oceanweather etc. So, thanks to everyone on this thread for making my tracking that much easier when it does happen.

.

How did you figure this? I was originally on the Takasago (booking #gbsou88296) having arrived in port on July 8 but got bumped. Got two email messages from WW personnel stating that I would be on the Aida and the new booking # was gbsou88296A. Based on my just performed search at the WW site, I'm not on so you may need to add TD54688 to your missed the boat list.
I sure as hell hope they are wrong and just not updated.

Well, misery loves company so just so that you're not feeling left off the boat all alone, my TE11815 also looks like it missed the Aida, and has now been sitting waiting to get on a boat since July 6th

Well - you are so far the only car I can find that's in the exact same situation as I am! You didn't get loaded on the Takasago, yet your listing still shows as booked on that ship. And you didn't get your booking # changed to have the "A" on the end.

Pretty freaky, if you ask me. Emails I sent to WW indicate that I was supposed to be added to the new booking # (that ends in 'A') but that "the systems weren't updated" or something to that effect.

I can only hope we both got on - only time will tell... I sent an email to WW this afternoon so hopefully there's an answer in the morning.

Yes, that's a tough situation. I think the VPC is setup to accept a few hundred cars every week. They'll be taking in possibly 2 weeks worth in 2 days so I have a sinking feeling that while we're on a boat - no small feat mind you - that we may simply end up sitting at the VPC for some period of time longer than normal.

Arrrgh!

Maybe that's why we are never loaded! We complained and have been sent to WW detention The stevedores eat lunch sitting on our cars every day, leaving sardine stains and cracker crumbs and cigarette ashes on our babies

gbsou88296A

if this is your booking number you are probably on the aida,, there were 138 with this number and they are all loaded on the vessel,, i think this is the group that was booked on the takasago under gbsou88296 and was left at the dock while the takasago sailed away

waving sadly from the Southampton dock...

My car, which was part of booking # GBSOU88327, appears to be one of the 500+ that was booked on the Aida and then left on the dock (the w&w site still shows most of my booking as "received at terminal"). Any other poor souls out there who are "in the same boat"? (or rather, NOT in the boat... )

Man... a few days ago I thought I was soooo lucky. My car was a production date of 7/26, was completed on 7/24, and then booked on the Aida leaving Southampton on 7/27. Wow, I thought; perfect timing! But too good to be true, it appears.

If any of the folks who were apparently also left on the dock find out any good info, pls. post!

Still waiting to motor,
apexchaser

I'm with you apexchaser, but I think I'll give it another few days and hope they are just slow updating the tracking system. If not, it looks like we might have to send our photographer eBrit behind enemy lines to start checking for our VIN numbers I just hope they don't have any nasty dogs with big pointy teeth guarding the area...

Sadly, I am also with you apexchaser I am going to wait a couple of days and check to see if by chance those in limbo-land from our batch made it onto the Isolde, which left a day later, but arrives in NJ a day earlier than ADIA. I just wish I knew either way... Not knowing what's going on is a bit rattling!

Cheers, eBrit for the photos and info at the weekend. Even if we were left behind, we have the full picture.

I'm in (or rather not in) the same boat. Built on July 15, arrived at terminal on July 20 and booked on Aida, but looks like still in Southampton.

As many of you said before me, I'm not on the boat either, but in the same boat as you all. My MINI has a birthday of about July 18th, it made the dock on the 19th, was scheduled on the Aida, but apparently didn't make the ship. I'm not totally giving up hope yet that the system hasn't been fully updated. I only counted 47 cars from our booking number GBSOU88327 that indicate "Loaded on vessel" and surely there was more than that. I just hate not knowing.
