It's Mine

Just took delivery of my MCS. I consider myself blessed. I ache for you guys whose MINIs are bunged up in the system.

Our dealer, Dreyer, is scrambling to get all the MINIs that arrived over the weekend prepped and delivered. They didn't have any issues with the title paperwork. I wish I'd read the last few posts before I went in, I could have asked how the paper comes.

I don't know exactly how many they got, but there are about 20 in the lot.

trust me

Your dealer is lying. I have seen cars go out within hours of the dealer getting the cars. Yes, I am talking about MINI's.

Right then. Good Show. Carry On.

Im not doubting what you're saying, but what's the advantage to the dealer of lying about the paperwork? They already have a good inventory sitting about (including 2 Ss that were cancelled at the last minute). I'd think that from a liability issue at the least they'd want to get cars off the lot as quickly as possible.

The only thing I can think of is that they like cars to sit for a few days so thiei inventory looks bigger, bringing in more people. And they can show off more colors/options.

Right then. Good Show. Carry On.

I'm a lucky one

Ellen at New Coutry called Monday to say that mine was expected on the afternoon truck. She said the titles follow in the mail, and they have had a "range" of delay times. This is probably the source of your delay. Hope it's short.

MiniJT, any word yet?

Roof rack went on today. It will be ready Wednesday, but I can't get up there till Thursday morning. Great timing, as I have 7 days off.

MINI adventure to follow.

I've been sniffing around about this paperwork thing and it may be true that the papers aren't shipped along with the cars, but it appears to be the dealer's choice if their company policy will be to wait for them or to let the car go when it arrives.

Frustrating, one way or the other.

No Word Yet From Ellen...

Not sure what to make of it??!? MINI-USA seemed to think it was leaving VPC today and getting on a truck for Hartford. If this were true, its reasonable to assume that I would be on the same truck as you, snowMINI, and would have received a call.

Hmmm... Maybe I'm left in the cold, like everyone else??? Not sure what to think...

Re: Mixed Emotions

[b]About a half an hour ago I talked to ASK MINI and they told me that my MCS had been loaded on a truck today. I was bummed because I was expecting it to get to my dealer over last weekend and I'd be picking it up this week.

My dealer just called to say that my MINI is in!!! And I can pick it up tomorrow.

So ASK MINI was delayed even at this stage!?!? Please tell me that's true!!!!

I called yesterday and was told mine was in line at the VPC and ready to get on a truck this Wednesday. Today, they told me that all it says under the order now is 'customs' - that's all the info she could give me. Maybe it's 'tied up' she said.

It's nice to know that even now, with it in the country, they still can't keep the info straight. My MINI came over on the Don Juan on the 13th and was supposed to be delivered on the 24th. Good chance of that now.

I had these same issues when it was scheduled for production - one day I'm told it will be in the body shop that day, and the next I'm told maybe a week or two.
If they can't keep consistent info, I'd rather they don't offer it. I was originally hoping to get it for my Labor Day vacation - thought I was on track - guess that was wishful thinking.

9/02 delivery (I hope?!?!)

Alright, this is getting really frustrating.

MINI has now given me 3 completely different updates in 3 days. Monday it was in line at the VPC and to get on the truck today. Tuesday it was on it's way to the VPC. Today, it is still at the port in a 'bottle neck' . What I find funny is that the status of my MINI keeps moving back but my 'truck date' still stays the same - it still is scheduled to get on the truck today, but ASK MINI says that won't happen. How can their system say my status has changed, but it doesn't update it's scheduled truck shipment date?!?! Hell, my delivery date is still the same according to ASK MINI.

He now says to add another 10 days to the whole thing - which means my MINI should arrive a few days into my vacation - a planned week long road trip. I have no car. If they go through the trouble to give their customers the opportunity to track their order from start to finish, then they should have some more accurate info to share. I really think I would have preferred them saying 'end of August' back on May 16 . It's too late for that now.

I know I'm ranting. But it's just that when I go to track progress, I assume that's what's actually happening.

9/02 delivery (I hope?!?!)

pezhead,

I feel your pain. Thankfully we at least have this forum to vent some frustrations. By the way, congrats to those on the Leader that have their cars.

You’re not alone Pezhead

I am in the same situation Pezhead. I have been waiting since May 14. I too am frustrated by this lousy delivery system. I agree that bad or incomplete information is worse than not having any at all.

I also sold my car last week and am without wheels right now. These people suck.

once a car misses it's trucking date, that never gets updated. It will always say the 21st of August even if the car gets on a truck next month

Right then. Good Show. Carry On.

I have had just about every delay possible.

Production date 7/12, stuck at 160 for 4-5 days, missed 2 ships before loading on the H.L., and now more than a week in New Jersey.

The absolute worst thing, though, is that my Mother's Mini, with a production date of 8/10, is unloading at the dock today. If she gets her car before me I may need to be commited.

I also feel your pain. Unloaded in NY on August 13 and still waiting to get to the VPC. My delivery date still shows as today of course. Obviously that isn't going to happen! Likewise I have a planned week long roadtrip for after Labor Day. At this point I'm just hoping the car does get here in time for that, if so all else will be forgotten.

There are a lot of us in the same boat. I wonder what the problem was, it isn't like they could have caught anyone by surprise when they arrived. I guess the efforts to accelerate getting the cars off the docks at Southampton just moved the bottleneck to this side of the Atlantic .

In the garage and ready to go!

cars keep coming in from other boats and blocking ours. The dock workers need to figure out a better system.

Right then. Good Show. Carry On.
