According to my dealer they intensified the inspection process on cars at the VPC to reduce defects that make it to the dealer. Funny, I thought that was already being done. Also, if they made a decision that was going to delay all cars out of the VPC the scheduled delivery dates would account for this.

I just got off the phone with the dealer again. This time I talked with the sales manager. He called the port and I got the straight skinny. You are not going to believe this. Are you sitting down.

They are bottlenecked.

Amazing!

Just called again, it's at the VPC and I'm told the "inspection paperwork" has been printed, but it hasn't yet been inspected.

Also, this is the first time that I've called more than once in a day. That can't be healthy...

New excuse

I called this afternoon and was told that the delay is probably being caused by a batch of cars that need a “clip” installed in the manual transmissions. That’s a new excuse. The guy I spoke with couldn’t tell me if my car was one of the cars that needed the clip or it was just behind some that did. Has anyone else been told about this?

My sales guy told me the same thing when I was complaining to him yesterday afternoon. I'm awaiting an S which isn't part of the upgrade campaign, but I must be parked behind a line, a long line, of regular Coopers.

Oh the pain!!

My MCS was made in early July (8th), sat around through 3 ships in S'hampton, and has now been off the HL for 10 days, and still, when I call MINI USA, they can tell me nothing.

DR in Philly is equally dissatisfied, as many of us (except Jason Livingood) have not received our cars.

We can't seem to get an answer, and if you have any ideas about how to get one, I would love to hear it.

I have a great trip planned over the Labor Day weekend (and missed a great one last weekend already).

Hope she comes in.

Just checked the OL and mine is updated with "At Distribution Center". Kinda surprising since the OL is not usually as up to date compared to Ask-Mini. I consider it another small glimmer of hope at this point...

I just called ask-mini and they tell me my car was released to the carrier today! I hope others will be getting good news soon...

That's great Tony, I'm looking forward to the call!

Mine was also released to the carrier today. Hopefully it will get here today or tomorrow. I am going down the shore tonight for the weekend. If my car comes, I am coming home to get it and go back down. It's only about an hour drive (in my M3, hour and a half the MINI).

Right then. Good Show. Carry On.

Arrived at port 12-AUG

Congrats! I am happy that some people on the ship are getting MINIs delivered... My MINI STILL has "arrived at port of entry" status... Nothing else - no VPC, no carrier or delivery date (still says 8/21 on OL, hehe).

Well, if quality is the issue and VPC processing is taking longer, it's probably worth the wait. Better to get a car that is fully QAed, then to have to keep returning to the dealer with issues. I live 1 1/2 hrs from the Hartford dealer, so it's worth it to me (tryin' hard to keep spirits up)...

snowMINI? Any word?? Guess you are busy motoring...

Don't trust the owners lounge, go by what 866-ASK-MINI says. Even their info isn't exactly up to date. It's about 3-4 hours behind, even though they say it's real time.

Right then. Good Show. Carry On.

Tony, if mine does comes in today or tomorrow, would I be able to pick it up before the weekend? If you're going to be at the shore, who should I talk to? I can hardly stand still knowing my MINI is so close....

Well, it looks like my car finally made the processing center today. I think they could do a remake of the movie "The Longest Mile", only this time it would be the story of a MINI making from the dock to the VPC. Still don't know when to expect an actual car in the driveway, however.

Delay update

I spoke with MiniUSA late this afternoon and again soon before they shut down for the night to see if my car has moved off the dock (it hasn't). The two different people I spoke with each told me that the delay is due to several large shipments all arriving within a short time which ended up dumping about 4000 (four thousand) cars (both Minis & BMWs) onto the dock that need to go through the VPC.

Apparently a number of Minis went out on the 21st & 22nd but if your car wasn't in that group it will probably be the middle of next week before leaving the VPC.

Truth or fiction?

I GOT MINE!

This morning the ETA to dealer was 8/25, by mid afternoon it had dropped to 8/22 and relased to carrier. Then, at 3:330-4pm the truck arrived. my MINI was on it. The car is now in my driveway! I put about 20 miles on it tonight. Went to my friends bar, he has a MINI COOPER S also. The cars got to meet eachother. I'm really tired now and going to sleep. Gotta get up early and was the car. It got rained on tonight. Keep up hope everyone....your car will come!

I've been following the plight of the Hudson Leader's cars, so it's good to see some movement for you finally!

Am I right in assuming that you're dealing with Baron in KC? If so, did you get an estimate of how long it would take to truck from the VPC to KC?

I'm on the dock now: waiting . . . waiting . . . waiting . . .

catalyst,

Yes, I am working with Baron. They say it should be in by the 29th, but could be sooner. I just hate to get my hopes up. It would be awesome to get it before the Labor Day weekend, however. Good Luck on yours. Things do seem to breaking loose some. The main problem is that there is no real fairness to how the cars are processed.

Talking I have my MINI!

I picked up my MINI this evening! Not much else to say other than I'm thrilled, relieved, and eager to drive it some more. Here are some pictures...
