Anyone else stuck in Takasago/VPC Hell?

I knew it was too good to be true...

My car sailed through production a week early, hopped on the Takasago and was delivered to the New York VPC on July 21st. Now it just sits there

When I call MINIUSA all they can tell me is that it "should" be released to the dealer "soon". I know it's not the end of the world but it is so hard knowing it is finally in the US and it just sits there collecting dust.

Anyone else in this same boat?

2002 Indi Blue/White Cooper, Sport Pkg, Premium Pkg, Cold Pkg, Xenons (dropped from order), white bonnet stripes. Scheduled production date 7/12/02

AARRRRG

Arrived at the VPC on the 24th, workorder printed on the 26th and still there....

Every step there has been delays. The car was completed a week early but was held at the factory for 11 days, then sat at the port for two weeks. Now this.

Will we ever get our cars?

Picked up the car on Aug 6, 10,200 miles already IB/W Cooper, Rogue Exhaust, Magnecor Wires, K&N filter, Porterfield Brakes. Serious Autocross Fun

I would suspect that your cars are being held at the VPC to get the shifter recall fix done - lots of times cars are held at the VPC to get fixes like this done. If anyone who ordered a MCS and was on the same ship could post what they have experience timeline wise it may help to confirm this. If they aren't being held up then it is probably just the coopers for the shift fix.

Hey KB, I saw your new armrest at Keeler the other day. I was passing through the area on business Wednesday afternoon so I stopped by to talk to Rex...

As for delivery delays, my car came in on the Takasago on 7/21 and then sat at the port until 7/29 when it was finally checked in at the VPC. It cleared the VPC in short order, and was released to the carriers on 7/30. It's status was "in transit" when I called MINIUSA yesterday afternoon (8/1), so I would guess it must be at Keeler by now. I'm have an appointment to pick it up Monday at lunchtime. At long last...

Ricardo,
Did he show the arm rest to you? It seems like it should work pretty well, especially for a long trip

My car was just released for transit. So I hope it gets on a truck today. I would like to pick mine up on Monday as well.

My MCS also came off the Takasago on the 21st and sat at the docks until the 29th when it went to the VPC. It was there for a day and a half and is now on it's way to Chicago.

My Takasago story is about to come to its long-awaited end. I got the call from my dealer this afternoon, my MCS has arrived. I can pick it up tomorrow at noon!! It was built on 6/21 and also sat for almost a week at the N.J. port before making it to the VPC on the 28th. I'm one happy camper about now. I hope all of the other Takasago cars are delivered soon.

Yeah, I checked it out, I think it should work well. I probably won't get one too soon, simply because I don't frequently drive the sort of distances where the lack of one would become an issue. If my first drive with the MINI was going to be a coast-to-coast trek though, I suspect it would be the first thing I'd get.

Unhappy Still waiting....

Our MCS was loaded off Takasago in Port Hueneme on 8/4 and is still sitting at the port. It seems our dealership is getting a truckful every Saturday night so maybe (just maybe) ours will be there this weekend.....

I was getting desparate enough that I went over to the dealership last weekend when they were closed and got the VIN numbers of a few to see what boat they came in on!

Been a little busy to play in MINI2 land... Pick up the car on the 6th. Left the dealer at 12:30 pm and was home 2950 miles later in Seattle on the 9th at 9 am. And I stopped for most of a day at Cedar Point for a roller coaster fix.

Talk about a quick break-in.

Mine was built 6/11 and on the Takasago as well, and was put on a truck today from New Jersey. Expected at the dealer this weekend and hopefully to me by mid week. I must be the last of the bunch..

My MCS also came off the ship at Port Hueneme on 8/4 and is still shows sitting at the port. Mine is heading for the Phoenix dealer. The dealer told me they won't know when it will arrive until it shows up in the parking lot on a carrier.

Mini_D, can you post a reply here when your dealer calls you, or when you know your dealer delivery date? I'll do the same.

Thanks

No delivery date but...

...an update. Called MINI and the said we're scheduled to be shipped by truck on 8/16. That sticks with my theory (previous post) of cars getting here to Denver on Saturday night. Called the dealership and they knew nothing about delivery dates, etc... Rather surprising since they said a week ago we would hear from them about a week before delivery! I think my wife will go ballistic if the car sits on the lot all of next week! I'll post again once they give me a delivery date.
