You threw me for a second there - didn't recognize "Old" 64, as I drive that road several times a year to Davie county. That would be a good route - two-lane to Asheboro, then four-lane from there. No pressure to maintain speed like there would be on I-40/I-85.

I was up at VIR this weekend for the superbike races. Ran into Lee Davis - the Corporate Sales Director for Flow BMW. He had a red/white MC. Very nice - there were crowds around it the whole time.

VIR is having a SVRA event the weekend of October 19th (Sports Vintage Racing). I'll probably go even if I'm still driving my clunker Honda. Want to make an event of it for Triangle MINI owners? PM me if there's any interest, and I'll post to the meetings forum.

I have on order a 2003 MC-S and wondered why all the packages that I ordered were not showing up on the "lounge". I emailed MINI.COM and recieved an answer saying that the information on the 2003's has not been "officially released" yet and the owners lounge info on my car would be updated to show all the packages when the new info is released. Sounds reasonable, I guess. My approximate build date is week 38 or around sept.20th. Any thoughts?

We got the unauthorized owners manual in the mail today. Pretty funny stuff, like the stickers for the dash, now I know what people were talking about earlier this year!

No VIN yet, should be soon...

Called MINIUSA today. They said my car was status 112, scheduled for production by 9/6. The OL still shows on order. Less than 3 weeks to a finished car!!

I've ordered a 2002 EB MCS originally scheduled for early Aug and has been bumped on the owners lounge to Sep 30th. just a one day before 2003! it just moved today to "scheduled for production". I'm a little upset that its just one day and I could have gotten the colors I wanted, as well as the changes for 2003. If there are any delays at all I will get bumped into September. Does anybody know if that would make it a 2003 even if I ordered a 2002.

I've always heard that 2003 production begins Sept 1. I can't imagine them building both model years at the same time. Do you have a VIN? And is the year encoded in there somewhere?

I've checked the vin and it is a 2002, so even if they build it after aug 30th it has to be a 2002. maybe they'll screw up and give me the 2003 changes on the 2002.

What character in the VIN identifies if it's a 2002 or a 2003???

My dealer is saying my car could come in as a 2003,,,,
and the production date is 8/23,,,,,,
They want to charge me the '03 price,,(But then I'll get 2 remote key fobs,,,,)

From what I have been told 4 weeks sounds about right. It sorta depends upon when you get finished compared to when the next ship leaves. If yours arrives at the dock just after a ship leaves, then it can sit for a bit until they start to load the next ship. Yet again, timing is everything.
