I guess from what I've read on here, Charleston didn't get near as many cars and isn't experienceing any delays at all. I don't understand why they couldn't have sent some of the cars to Charleston rather than sending them all to NJ. Actually Charleston isn't that much further from my dealer, (Richmond VA)than NJ!! It certainly wouldn't have taken two to three weeks additional to truck it the additional distance. Unfortunately that would have required some planning, and forethought, something I'm beginning to believe is way beyond the realm of Mini or BMW.

Something is wrong here (obviously). You need to demand that the dealer find out if your car was damaged in transit. That's the only reason I could think of for such a delay. Our Mini has been sitting at the port for a couple of weeks, but was supposedly released from the VPC this morning.

Same old run around

I am still getting the same run around as everyone else about the car still being at the port. I was told by the dealer last week that the car would be at their shop on Monday or Tuesday. I waited till this morning to e-mail them to see what was going on and they haven’t responded.

I did go onto Planetfeedback.com and send a complaint to Tom Purves, CEO of BMW NA. I encourage everyone to do the same. Perhaps that will shake someone up.

We must remember this is just a car

We are all going crazy waiting !!! I will be the first to admit it . But it's just a car <<< and that is what i need to remember my car finished production over 30 days ago I had hopes it would be here the 15th of August << wishful thinking .My estimated delivery date was the 21 << wishful thinking again, I would love to complain about everything but I am sure they already know there are problems with the delivery and I am sure they are doing there best. I wanna stay positive. Just think in a few weeks we all will be lauging and telling you wouldn't believe tales of on how long we waited. (( If I do decide to complain I will wait till after I get my car ))

You are right Terrence, but on the other hand letting off steam can be cathartic. I actually just posted rants on a couple of the "other" boards and then decided to head home from work. I called Ask-MINI again and our baby has moved to the VPC today afterall! Still, venting felt good. I am looking forward to getting the car quite a bit!

Talking I agree

( I am all for venting ) and I have on many occasions done it myself as you have read in this forum . This entire experience has driven me and all those around me to witts end. I didn't want to sound preachy . Just trying to put in into perspective I guess mainly for myself. It helps a great deal for all of us to see we are not alone in our misery . Thank God for this forum or we would all be alone huddled in a fetal position....mumbling crazy talk about a car we have never seen ....

Venting

Not only does venting help (me at least) but more importantly sharing information in this forum hopefully will keep us all better informed as to what is going on. Frankly the information I have gotten in this forum has turned out time and time again to be more accurate than either the dealer or MiniUSA. I hope the other people who had cars that arrived in NJ with mine will continue to keep us all posted as to what is going on, it seems that no one else either will or has the information.

I for one would like to thank everyone for posting their status and experiences and I hope they keep it up.

Update

I spoke with ASK-MINI a few minutes ago and have been told that our car has been released to the shipping company.

It was sitting in NY from 8/12 when it was unloaded from the Hudson Leader until (hopefully) tomorrow when it will be loaded on to the truck. The dealer is hoping for a Saturday delivery. We'll see.

Sorry, I can't remember if you said you're getting your Mini at Towne in Buffalo, but the sales guy there told me he's waiting for 3 cars, one of which is mine. I hope yours is one of the other two. Good luck.

Final resolution

Well, it's here.

Was being taken off the truck at 9:15 this morning (8/28). We're going to try to pick it up tomorrow, but may have to wait until Saturday.

Good luck to everyone else.

I am ready to scream

I called this morning, like always to check the status
gave my information and was told hmmmm looks like your car arrived at port on the 13th and that is the last update I see in the system. I said that is odd i was at the VDC on the 24th .. no comment from him . I said OK and hung up very confused. I waited a few moments and called back , and then was told that your car is at the VDC I said I just called and was told I am at the port. what is going on ? She told me the VDC is at the port they are a football field away . she said there is a bottleneck .... but she said you are at the VDC.... i am so very confused i just want honest information .

I just posted the below message on the "Hudson Leader" thread:

Hey everybody! After coming in from my business trip on Friday, I expected that my MINI would be at the dealer or close by. But, as my luck would have it, there was no change and it looked like I was still on the dock. My dealer (Crown MINI in Richmond) called the dock to find out what was going on. I talked to the dealer late yesterday afternoon and they gave me the same bottleneck story. I was terribly frustrated and almost bought an S they had sitting on the lot. I decided to call ASKMINI to see what their story was, and low and behold, my MINI had cleared the VPC and was loaded on the truck!!! It should be in Richmond tomorrow and I should be able to pick it up by Friday afternoon or at the latest, on Saturday!!! I can't believe that it's almost here and my wait is almost over. I'll keep you all posted because after all we've been through, I won't believe it until I'm sitting on my butt behind the wheel.

RedCooperS - I'm getting my MINI from the same dealer as you. Hopefully you'll be on the same truck. I'll be looking for you when I pick mine up and maybe we can meet! If not, and I notice a red S, in the shipment, I'll post you and let you know. Who was your salesperson? Patricia?
