Getting Closer...

The dealer got the car Friday morning, but their phones were on the blink all day - I couldn't get through to my "motoring advisor" until 2PM, and then we got cut off a few seconds into the call.

But the finance lady called me near the end of the day and we setup a Tuesday afternoon delivery!

I should be tooling around in the car in just 48 hours...

I've got to find the list of all those dealer-programmed options, so I can get them to program the car on Monday...

Woo-hoo!

Got mine yesterday and it is fantastic! I happened to have driven over to the dealer and saw it on the truck it came in on. Snapped some photos of it coming off the truck, so that was pretty cool. It is everything I had hoped for and more!

Regarding the options that can be programmed to the keys, my salesperson called me to go over the list of all the options and it seems as though they got it all correct. I was supposed to get the dealer installed alarm, but they don't have it in stock yet and seem to have little info about it.

Picked up my MINI on Thursday 10/24 in Greenville. I was less than an hour from my Alma Mater, Clemson, and decided to drive there and go to the Thursday night football game vs NC State (blow out game, in their favor sad to say).

The drive onto campus was wonderful... the car is a head turner. I had a police officer walk up and ask questions while I was in traffic. Wanted to know engine specs, top speed. ;-)

I overheard one couple... the woman said "Look at that car, what is it?" He responded "One of those new MINI's"

Left the game early to motor home to Raleigh. A nice 5 hour drive to bond with the car.

I love the car.

The hardest thing about driving it is keeping under 4000 RPM's.

I went motoring last night on some local back roads... Some hotshot came up fast behind me, so I pushed through some curves. He fell back in the turns, I just kept accelerating.

eBrit you are right! There's no room for error at all in unloading the MINI's. I had been sitting across the street watching the guy unload them and I was very impressed with how careful he was and the expertise he applied to what he was doing. I hope all the drivers are that skilled.

going to the shop

sjjn,
I've already been, just not for anything as serious as your fan. The driver's side marker light piece popped out on the way home from the dealer. I suspect they knocked it off during pre-delivery detailing and tried to glue it, but they've ordered a new one.
Glad the car's so fun!

900 miles no issues

I have been lucky so far, this car rocks!!! I installed a blitzsafe adapter MP3 Player and XM radio. THis car gets quicker everytime I drive it, I am almost at the 1200 mile mark, I have hit 5K on the tach a few times, but never gone above that, I have been pretty good, it is averaging about 31 mile per gallon so far. So all is well, good luck with yours guys, and gals...

I got it!

I'm finally motoring!

I picked up the MINI last night - traffic was agonizing driving from NJ to Long Island, so we got there around 5PM. My "motoring advisor" already left for the day, so "George" closed the deal instead. We had a few glitches:

-No emergency key. I thought I read somewhere that I was supposed to get an emergency key - the flat plastic one that you keep in your wallet or other safe place. George agreed - he's looking into it. No big deal.
-Closing amount was $10 off. Also not a big deal, but I wasn't carrying much cash with me as it was. After spending nearly $25K, you would think they might cut me a break on the $10 difference. Oh well...
-This was a big dissapointment. George goes to show me how the SAT NAV works - "No CD in drive". But there is a CD in the drive. George determines that it's the wrong CD (It was a BMW version). Bottom line is I have to drive home with no working Nav unit. They said they'll FedEx me the correct CD as soon as possible. Bummer. Personally I think they should have tested this out before I arrived. Now I'm worried that maybe something is wrong with the unit, as I thought this Sat Nav uses the same CD as in the BMW's. Hmmmm.....

So , I drive the car home in heavy stop & go traffic, rain & sleet. Despite all that, you can't wipe the smile off my face! The car is fantastic, I love driving it!

Here's a pic of the new car, after arriving home and parking next to her new garagemate:

Ha! You should have seen it 6 weeks ago - there was only room for one car then! But I'll admit there's still a lot of work to be done.

The old Volvo has had the garage to herself for 2 years, I'll bet she's glad to have company...

The rubber mat under the Volvo was a big improvement - I plan to get one for the Mini too - they make it in colors, including "racing blue" which should match the Mini quite nicely. www.bltllc.com
