She's arrived!

Picked up my new Mini today (and waved hello to my old one - scrubbed up nicely and sitting on the forecourt waiting for a new owner!). We took the bus to the dealers which was exciting - mad bus driver - didn't know the correct route through our village - heard someone telling him the way! He then managed to drive up on the curb at one point and we almost fell off our seats (we were sitting upstairs - exciting!). Anyway - love the Mini - took her for a spin to a nice country pub. I love having 6 gears - was always trying to change up in the old one. The stop start thing seems cool - if a bit unsettling at first. I'm waiting for people at lights to give me a weird look when I start it up without moving my hands off the steering wheel (well, it amuses me anyway!). OBC reckoned we got an average of 48MPG!!

I think our little red mini will be glad to have a rest - he's been doing all the driving for the last few weeks while I've waited for my new Mini to arrive. They look weird together though - talk about 'super-size me'!!! We had a 6ft Xmas tree in little red last year ;-) - in the front passenger seat - was hilarious!

Thanks! I've still got a big Mini-induced grin. I was a bit sad to see my old PW/Black Cooper today - but hopefully she'll get a new home soon.

That's the bit that tells you what gear you should be in for optimum fuel economy. i.e it will change to an up arrow and 6 if you should change up to 6th.

So thats the bit you ignore then
I had heard about that feature but when I got mine I was playing with the indicator stalk and held it in to see what would happen and the two little arrows came on...it took me quite a few miles before I realised what it was.
The stop start feature works great, the only time I found a problem was when it was just stopping as I had to move off and for a second or two it sat there, seemed like an age but perhaps the people behind didn't even notice. I did manage to stall mine at some traffic lights the other day, I got distracted by an Audi heading toward the back of me at a fair old rate of knots and by the time I glanced back at the lights they had just changed to green, in my rush to pull away I managed to stall it (cue red face). The thing I have found with these MINIs and the new start button sequence is that it isn't exactly second nature when you stall.I bet the people around me were a tad peed off cos I must have been there nearly 10 seconds.

Loving your car Sprite , the colour looks great as does your interior, nice to see you are putting on the miles. I have done about 2100 miles now and I think it will be seven weeks this Wednesday since I picked him up.
Enjoy...

Not mad keen on bonnet stripes - but I quite fancy a zip on the roof - but only if it can be done with mellow yellow showing throught the 'unzipped' bit.

Phil can do you a mock-up of how it would look.

Or if he's busy, there's plenty of designers on here who could do it for you.

I had the MINI word roof decal made up by a local graphics designer for a Mellow Yellow/Black Cooper earlier this year, and the colour match is almost perfect:

The Zip will obviously be more difficult, but not impossible I'm sure
