Offline | What is the deal with production slots ? Went to one dealer, and he said his guess was that i could get my mini i january 2008' Went to another, signed the deal but he had no clue when it will arrive... i had to wait for a specific date. Than later on he said, that whan they opened up for further orders it would already be in the system, it was the best he could do.. but still no date ? What is the deal with those slots ? How long can i expect to wait untill i have a specific date ? |

Offline | Normally I think dealers are allocated a certain number of build slots for the various cars. My Cooper D was ordered in September for a March 08 delivery as they had no more slots left for this year (though i could have gone elsewhere and got one quicker) I was told they had been allocated 6 Cooper D's for the first part of next year, mine was now one of those ![]() He showed me their ordering system and all the build allocations they had for the end of the year, lots of One's and Cooper's and a few S's. They were all allocated build slots/dates. The nearest ones were already specced to be used as demo/showroom cars but obviously up to a certain point the spec could be changed to a customers specification instead. I also discovered their ordering system is virtually the same as I use at work ![]() |

Offline | Only a 6 week wait Shopping around the dealers is worth while. I tried 2 dealers in Bedfordshire / Buckinghamshire. They had slots for 4 week and 6 week delivery for a Cooper D. Mine is scheduled for 1st week of December, could have been end of November but I was dithering about the spec, so missed the 1st available slot. Not long to go now. |
