New Mini S is "scheduled for production"

I ordered my new Mini S (laser blue with a white top) last Tues. It is "scheduled for production" according to the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge. I have a production number and VIN. Do I have to wait until it is in transit to get more info on where it is, and when its getting here? I'm in Los Angeles, so the dealership said it would take 20 days to ship. Does this seem right? Thanks.

Your MINI will spend at least 20 days on a ship crossing the pond from South Hampton to Port Hueneme.

If you don't have to wait on a ship at South Hampton and don't get held over at the VPC, 5 weeks from build completion to arrival at the dealers is the fastest you can expect for a West Coast delivery, as illustrated by the timeline for 2002 MCS:
04/26 - On Order (received production number)
05/03 - Status 111 and 112
05/17 - Status 150 (Week 23 [ending 06/07] build)
05/27 - Status 152 (being painted)
05/28 - Status 160 (released for distribution - a week early)
05/29 - Status 182 (waiting for train)
05/30 - Status 193 (in Southampton, loaded on Tricolor)
06/25 - Status 196 (in Oxnard, discharged from Tricolor)
06/26 - At VPC
06/27 - Released to carrier
06/29 - Arrived at dealer (East Bay MINI)

Waiting is hard

I was on a waiting list for a year before I could even place an order

So, I called 866-MINIUSA, and they said my car was "released to a carrier and awaiting transportation to the port of exit."

How do I track it from this point? I have the VIN and my prodcution number. I saw some cargo tracking websites posted on mini sites...is it too early to look at these (I entered my numbers in one and was told they weren't valid).

It needs to get loaded on a ship before you can track it further.

Shipping...name that ship

My Clubman's status is now EN ROUTE.

From what I've been reading, it's about two weeks from the U.K. to the U.S. National Processing Center.

Now, if there were a way to know which shipping company the little beauty is on!

866-MINIUSA doesn't know squat about the shipping company associated with your VIN.
