I wanted to wait till the ship (big floating stork) sailed, heard stories fo MINI's loaded only to be removed, but shes ONBOARD and out to sea , anyone else on there? Scheduled to be in California 10.21.02!!

How did you find out that she set sail already?

I feel lucky: my production date is officially TODAY , but the car is already on the boat.

I didnt think there would be a responce to this, on the WW site it looks like there is only 10 other MINIs on that ship. On the WW site it shows the expected schedule:

9.26.02 depart Southampton
10.5.02 Baltimore, MD
10.8.02 Brunswick, GA
10.21.02 Pt. Hueneme, CA

So lets hope for good weather!!

How long has the wait been?

When did your dealer tell you you should have it? Mine said early December......

My wait hasnt been all that long. I ordered through Desert Mini in Vegas in early August 02. As you may know (being in the Pacific NW), the Portland dealership didnt open until early this month, and already had a waiting list numbering in the hundreds when I ordered mine. I am getting my car much sooner as a result, but I am paying a premium for it.

I checked the WW web page. I think there are actually more like 127 cars on our ship. Check the bottom of the list. There is a "NEXT" button. The counter to the right will say: showing 11-20 of 127 or some such thing.

Interesting thing about the info available from ASK-MINI. They dont show that my car has been loaded onto a ship, though the WW web site shows it loaded and the ship set sail. Maybe their computer interface doesnt refresh as often as I check .

Have you called ask-mini? Has your status changed to "en route"?

Nope havent called, but I'll trust WW, seems much of the other info lags, Payin a premium for it isnt so bad, I put my name on the list up here september 2001! BIG demand, then had to wait more for the S! I didnt think there were only 10 onboard, but missed that info on the site. My friend that lives in portland says has seen more and more MINI's but not an S yet....

Atleast our MINIs are real and not just a spot on a waiting list....
