What's with MINI USA?
I keep getting different information day to day. On Friday the car was scheduled to be released to the carrier this Thursday. Monday's call showed it would be released on Tuesday. Tuesday's call said it looked like it was released on Monday. Todays call said it was put on a truck on Monday and may be at the dealer today or tomorrow.
Now I realize this is all good news getting better with each call, but how is a person supposed to make plans? Do they do this intentionally so you feel better each time you call?
Oh well, as long as the car gets here in time for my planned pick-up on the 7th. It's just sad to think that my car may be sitting idle for a few days at the dealer when it could be out having fun!
Anyone else experience a similar flow of information?

So your car did come in on the Galaxy Leader. Damn this is taking too long!!! If you are looking at a delivery on the 7th then I have no chance of getting it by then. My car just got to the VPC on Monday. I HATE THIS!!!

I called 866 ask mini monday, was told it will be there 3-4 days, 45 minutes later dealer called and said pick it up, of course two hours later was told not ready.

The closer it gets the harder the wait is, that is the fact of anticipation. atleast were all in the same boat(or were on the same boat )

I cant wait to look back at this thread and see the HAPPY pics, of us taking delivery.

I'm now going to think of what went right in this ordeal, not whats wrong, oummmm, oummmm, serinity now.....

Good things come...and MINIs are GREAT!!!

What the hell IBMiniG, I cannot believe yours is STILL not ready!!! When are they telling you you can pick it up, or are they still not saying anything. What a mess, I am sorry but I feel like I am going to snap. SO MUCH GRIEF TO GET A CAR! I think a lot of it deals with the fact that I sold my truck and he takes delivery tomorrow so I am without a vehicle until mine arrives. ARRRRRGHHH!!!

Hey sausagefingers, I'm there for you, I sold my 4runner Oct 19th! to add to the stress my dealer tried to add $595 to the BASE, price(instead of a second sticker) as explained by sales manager, but got it removed, for their mistake in scheduling my delivery prematurely. Remember we are still buying a car, the prob is we love the things so they got a FIRM hold of our danglies. (every other buying expierence, I've walked out of the showroom, saying "forget it" I dont know if the MINI guys would follow as has always happened before)
I'm going to call again in an hour to see progress.

I think I need a drink

BTW got the clear tails from MiniMania yesturday, ready to go...

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. I have to laugh about it a little. With all of the 0% financing and incentives that the other car dealers are offering they are basically begging us to buy thier cars. And here we are begging BMW to let us buy thier's. I think the thing that sent me over the edge was that I called my dealer today to find out all the final costs before I pick the car up, and the ******** are charging for floor mats!! YOU DROP 25,000.00 and change on a car and they can't throw in the DAMN FLOOR MATS!!!
I mean since when did these things stop becoming standard equipment?? At the very least they could figure them in the cost of the car and just include them. I would feel much better about that then having to shell out 75.00 for them. When I was buying my truck a couple of years ago I spent about 4 hours working out all the financing and when I found out they would not throw in the mats I got up and left. They called me back that evening and gave me the mats but somehow I think BMW would get a good laugh at me if I did that after all of this!!! Hows that for a rant!!

LOL

me too! the ONLY dealer option was FLOOR MATS to the tune of $94.50, had to laugh but costom cut mats off the net were only a few bucks less! The Ironic part was they apeased me by waiving the dealer markup that was never mentioned before. I requested the invioce be faxed to me so I could review it! So I should feel good about you not charging me something you said wasnt going to be charged anyway???
Just got off the phone with service and the throttle body hasnt come in, the guy I spoke was the most candid yet, said he has seen about 3 bad throttle bodies and none have returned, said it caused hesitation. Just remember when a car dealer says its going to do bususness different, its just a Jedi mind trick, ..wait those ARE the droids I'm looking for....

*my rant*

I have a funny feeling this will all be forgotten with the first pressing of the peddal.

Dealer Markup??? How much was that. I was told there was a $475.00 markup for registration and something else. How much was your markup?

I think their added "mark-up" (come on its really commission) has been called many things, paint protection, prep, registration, I read somewhere $600 for "paint protection and floor mats(manditory option) I laughed when they said that instead of a second sticker, they just added it to MSRP, becaues they are an MSRP only dealer, They never mentioned it ($595) to me because they hoped it would be gone by now, blah blah blah....

So I can feel good about paying MSRP (same $'s as off the MINI USA site!) plus floor mats, and then ONLY state tax license etc.

This site/thread is great, I feel better already!

Now I'll feel even better when its ready to drive home

You know I am really happy for you but at the same time I am eating my heart out!! I am really happy to hear about the floor mats too. Now is Northwest Mini in the Washington area?? I figure it is probably the same transit time from California to there, as it is from California to Utah. Do you know how long it took once it was placed on the truck from the VPC to get to you? I don't even know if my car has hit the VPC yet I keep calling Ask Mini but there computers are down. I think I am going to really have to press my case for floor mats now.

last friday ask MINI said should be through VPC by monday and on a truck tuesday. Monday ask MINI said done with VPC, and should be up here 3-4 days, 45 minutes later dealership called! I know I've driven fron Seattle to LA in 25 hours, and I think SLC would be same or a bit closer. in the last few days I started ordering bits for it on line, got the clear tails the day before delivery, so 15 minutes(1 pint) after I got her home she had clear tails (looks tops w/IB/W), put a red reflective license plate frame on it, hope that keeps the copers off me

soon, sausagefingers, soon you too will, be a member of the goofey grin club

until then MINI2 24/7....

Sausagefingers...I think we can cry on each others shoulders for comfort. I called Mini just now (8 AM, November 1st) and their computers are still down.
As for the dealer mark-up, I'm wondering what your registration costs were. I'm picking mine up at Mini of Murray and it's costing $300 over MSRP. That's $240 for their documentation fees and $60 for my Utah 30 day temporary permit. That will keep me legal until I get the car registered.
Until we get our cars, all we can do is relax and remember that childhood lulaby...

By the way, what do you all think of keeping this post open with our pictures? It will end up being a Galaxy Leader photo album. After all, the cars spent a lot of time on playing shuffleboard together, why not have an online reunion...

Great shots IBMiniG!
I read your post on the Cooper S forum. How do you like your clear brake light? Is it OEM quality?
Regarding your sound insulation, any idea how much weight the complete package will add? I'm not opposed to a little more weight for a lot more comfort so make sure you keep us updated.
Enjoy MINDI!!
