Sorry if this has been asked many times before, but I'm toying with the idea of getting a Cooper S as my next car but was wondering about lead times.

I think it varies between dealers. My dealer recently told me 4/5 months wait for an S. 2/3 for a ONE/Cooper BTW.

When I went to my dealer I was told 4 months. I went back the next day for a test drive and it went up to 5 months. When I placed my order it went up to 8 months. However, I have heard some orders come through a few months early!

I ordered in early August and am expecting delivery April '03.

From what I can tell it depends on whether the dealer has any production slots reserved at the factory.

I ordered my CooperS (spec'd by myself) at the end of October, and pick it up on the 6th December - Oh... tomorrow... WooHoo!

I think if you have a phone around, you may be able to get one quicker than you're being quoted.
