Talking Don Juan Has Landed!!

Just checked the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking list and the Don Juan has unloaded, and left NY for it's next destination. Meaning, my MINI is in NY waiting inspection.

Wahoo!! Anyone know how long it is currently taking MINI's to get through this next step? I'm sure they must have a backlog due to the holiday's. Also, do they truck MINI's to the dealer all the way from NY (I'm in Detroit, MI) or do they go by rail then truck?

I'm not sure if it was better before I was able to access all of this info or not. I love knowing, but the tension is driving me crazy now!!!

Did yours turn up on the 9th?

I haven't contacted my dealer to find out where mine is as I'm refinancing my house next week so I can't do anything until after then anyway. Thought it's best not to torture myself right now.

It's so pretty and I'm so jealous!
One more week!!

Chili red with white, white star wheels, CVT, sunroof, all 3 combos red interior, and everything except CD changer and fancy skirts and grill.
Driving since May. I love it that everyone else seems to think I bought my car so that they could smile at it!

Congratulations! It's very nice!

I love the blue interior, I couldn't order it with the BRG but I wish I could have.

Did you have the dealer install a black grill? If you don't mind me asking, roughly what does that cost? I am having them add the grill mounted fog lamps, but I really love that black grill and may add that too.

Congrats again!! Mine must be close now

Thanks for the info. It really is a cool looking car. I was flip flopping between your color and the BRG. Went with the classic Cooper color, but I do love that blue.

Happy motoring!

ron - the car looks great. I too had a moment where I almost changed to the IB from the final Red color. Looks like you got ALL of the goodies - why no driving lights?

togg63 - has yours left VPC yet? This is agony, and I fear my car will come coincident with a big snowstorm!!

East Coast ports?

I can't say for you all on the other coast but in case anyone cares, I've been told 2 weeks from the dock to the dealer for the West Coast. California may be different since that is where the cars arrive.

Motor on.

I think you are right. The Don Juan landed somewhere around New Year's day, so I am sure things got backed-up with the holiday. Kinda looks like we will be pushing 3 weeks.

I called my dealer yesterday. He told me my car was supposed to be at his dealership on Jan 10th. He called VPC to find out a little more info for me. He called me at home last night to tell me that my car is one of several scheduled for his dealership that are still at VPC.

As of last night they couldn't tell him why they were still there. One of the cars he is supposed to get has been there since mid December!!

Guess I'm in a wait and see situation unfortunately.

I just heard from my dealer (Cincinnati MINI) this afternoon - my car has been released to the carrier - could be in Cinci by Thursday. I don't think I will be able to take delivery until next week, though.

Hope you get good news soon!

Heard from my dealer today! My MINI should be here this week.

I had intended to have the driving lamps added, but my dealer told me they are $880 installed . He said about $400 for the lights and $480 to install them as they are quite difficult to install. I do love the way they look, but that is a huge chunk of change for something that is really purely cosmetic. I would totally blow the budget if I opt for them so they are gone.

So, that is a bummer as I had my heart set on them, but I can't gripe too much. My MINI is coming!! Wahoo!!

I think I've decided against the driving lights. They look like they'd be knocked off too easily.
Now, if I could just get that backup detector to work on the front, I might change my mind.
