Jupiter Diamond throught the Panama Canal

Posted: Jan 23, 2003 - 07:39 PM___
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After reading the Hercules Leader thread, which listed the Panama Canal Live Cam website, I checked it out and emailed them to ask when the Jupiter Diamond was due. I got home tonight, checked my email, and had a reply that she was due to go through the Miraflores Locks @ 8:00 PM (Panama time) It's now 9:30 PM there, so unless the boat has been held up, she's on the Pacific leg of her trip The carrier is due @ Port Hueneme on the 30th. Does anyone know about how long it takes these ships to get from Panama to Central Calif.? Here's hoping that it's way ahead of schedule, and that we all get our MINI's a week earlier than we planned

Nice detective work. I've been out of town a few days and just checked the shipping company tracking site. They list the Jupiter Diamond as arriving 2/1/03 now instead of 1/30. A few day's delay before our Minis make it home.

Incidentally, I was out of town on a trip to Whistler. I stopped by Mini of Richmond just outside Vancouver, BC and was blown away at how many MC and MCS they had on their lot. It looked to me like they had about 40 or more cars total and at least 25% were MCS. They did not have my config though, so I will wait a few more weeks. Plus the US$ has fallen a bit recently, and who knows what the warranty and tax issues would be?

New update, the Wallenius site now reports arrival date 1/31/03 - the original date listed when the vessel had just left Southampton on 1/9!
