Offline | Build Slots - Best possible delivery dates I've been ringing around all my local dealers for the best possible build slots and Aug 2003 seems to be the best I can get. I live in the Camberley area (Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire border)...Does anyone know where I can obtain an earlier build slot as I'd prefer May/June if possible. I realize that this is a bit of a longshot, but I though that I give it a try anyway. Thanks everyone. P.S. I had my first test drive yesterday. WOW!..what a great little car, I want one! ![]() |

Offline | Re: Build Slots - Best possible delivery dates Last weekend I was offered a build slot in May for a Cooper S by Snows in Portsmouth. I decided not to take this at this time given I have only had my Cooper for 3 months and their trade in offer was not realistic. Snows telephone number is 023 92657500, maybe worth calling them. I will defintley order a Cooper S later in the year, probably try to get a 2004 spec (and then most of the niggles should also be sorted out). Offline | Thanks for the prompt reply John...I'm still trying a few other local garages, but I will keep this in mind. You talk about "niggles"...what are the common problems with the Cooper S...or perhaps you could point me to a few useful threads. Thanks again ![]() |

Offline | I cannot quote any specifics reagarding the S but if you trawl through the relative forums on Mini2 you can form your own opinion. I am sure there are many current S onwers who can provide a more informed view. The only one single point which I think influences my descision as to when to place an order is that the S I believe has only been avaialble since March 02 (correct me if I am wrong) so has had a limited amount of time on the road. Normaly after this period you see changes to specs, problems showing up, improvements etc. The Cooper as an example has been around a while longer and most of the problems are now known. (both cars of course do share components, body parts etc). I think my Cooper is great, no major problems, drives well but ultimately I want an S. | MINI2 Senior | Keep watching the For Sale forum. That is how I found a February build slot, which had about 1 week to go before it was locked into production. And you might want to post up the the Wanted section as well. And keep calling around, if someone drops out, you can often get in quickly that way. If you want to know all the "niggles" of the MCS and MC, just check out the Faults and Fixes, and Maintenance forums. There is a lot of information there. Watch the dates on the posts though, some are old, and the problem has been sorted out by MINI since. Hope your wait is not too long. Cheers. Dave ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for the replies Thanks for all the very quick responses to my thread, this site has proved very useful already and I only signed up this morning. I'll review the "fixes" section etc, but the Mini seems to be a great car. I'm actually after a very specific config which is why I'm going to a new build...Thanks for the offer though Charles. Thanks again everyone. ![]() |
