Production to Delivery lead time

Does anyone know how long after my dealer says I cant make any spec changes will I get my car ( UK )... delivery date originally given was 15th May back in December, but just been into dealer today to add MFSW and caught a glimpse of his screen which showed 16th June ??, when I asked just got told I needn't worry and that I should get my car in May... if I was going to get it on the 15th May when should I be looking to hear that I cant make any more spec changes ??...

mmm.....sounds like a conincidence with me too......

ordered my "S" back on 28/9/02....was quoted May delivery....went into the dealer today to see about finance deals....

spoke to my salesman.....my car is down for production during Week 19, with delivery no later than the 19th May (Week 21). He did mention that cars were arriving 2-3 weeks ahead of due dates.

My order now has an additional line stating that any modifications to spec may affect delivery.....the saleman reckons you are issued with a VIN 2-3 weeks before production...so hopefully in the next couple of weeks..???? (I'm taking the cynical route..and being a doubting Thomas!)

I did ask where I was in the queue for MCS's.....apparently there are 3 people ahead of me.....although strangely they all ordered after me, which seems damned unreasonable....the saleman did mention that although they have a JIT line (Just In Time) they tend to build similar spec cars together......all the others ahead of me had specced "Chilli".......so I'm being made to pay for being a cheapskate!!!!!!!

Incidently....regarding the Finance......the dealer claimed that they did not loose business to banks....the best they could do was 10% APR....I've mangaed to secure 7.5% with my bank....so it looks like they'll be getting my business. I know Lombard & Direct Line "offer" headline rate lower, but again the sceptic in me says i'm likely to get shafted as I have a high disposable income.....ans as such they will take advantage of that!!!

Happy waiting........!!????

Thanks for the info, I have a feeling my dealer isn't as clued up as he should be... at the end of the day i'll get it eventually, its just with this nice weather we're having wish I had it now !...

About to start doing some digging into finance and stuff now, still got my current car to sell etc etc anyway.

Apparantely my dealer says i'm the next MCS that they get, and if your comments from the dealer are correct about production scheduling i'll be quite happy as I've ordered the Chilli pack ( and a few other things !! )...

I hear its all worth the wait though !...

regarding selling our current cars.......

I had a bit of luck last week when I visited my local "tip"....to dump some rubbish off..

I had planned to sell my current steed (Citroen Xantia....you know you need a big car coz you've got a little'un)....anyhow.....I had planned to trade it against the MCS.....the dealer had offered £1200 for it.....well....went to the tip and the guy who runs it said "hey thats a tidy motor you've got there"....so I said thanx it''ll be up for sale in about a month....well you can probably guess what's happened...he wants to buy it....so.....£400 in my pocket for taking a few sacks to the skip.....I'm well chuffed....(can now the autchanger for the MCS....but don't tell wifey!)

Have FUN!!!!!
