Congrats to all the "June" folks who have finally taken delivery of their new babies.

We picked ours up this morning and it was a wonderful experiance. The car was perfect in every way and absolutly spotless. Everything is just as it should be and well worth the wait.

Only thing is, I'm seeing another side of my wife that I didn't know existed. She's like a protective dog with a new bone. We're fighting over who gets to drive "Willie" next!

Thanks Qamper.

We did take a series of pictures but it might take me a while to figure out how to post them on here. I'm one of the worlds 10 worst computer users. I'm going to try and post a few thumbs a little later. Gotta go do a little motoring first!

Qamper:
Went with the Escort 8500 and had it installed for $65 at a place in Norwalk. The detector sits between the rear view mirror and the windshield and the remote readout has been placed between the sunroof button and the fake button. It doesn;t look half bad. I am going to purchase an extra power cord so I can pop out the radar detector and use it in our other car with the extra cord.

Gryphon,

They hardwired the 8500 into the sunroof button area for power? Is the detector on the passenger side of the mirror? Anyway to get a pic(s)? Did the guys at Mini of Fairfield Cty recommend them? Curious as I wasn't so sure about getting it hard-wired.

Thanks

I hardwired only a connector for my detector. It's high on the windshield behind the mirror and it's getting it's power from the lights in the visor. It was an easy install.

I will get pics up today if I can (just returned from driving the MINI to Lake Placid and back). The detector itself is not visible from the cabin of the car. It is nestled behind the rear-view mirror. Its power cord goes up into the roof and who knows where from there. (The technician assured me he had found an unused fuse and wired it on the safe side of that.) Then the little remote readout is attached to the black panel that houses the sunroof button and that readout is nicely visible. I also had them leave enough slack in the wire to the detector that I could move it to a visor and try it there. It appeared to find all the radar/laser I encountered on my roundtrip. Did not get a rec from dealer or service; just went to a place I had done business with before. They seemed to know what they were doing--no swearing and it only took them 45 minutes.

Gryph,

Ever get those pics? Going on my road trip in 2 weeks and will make a choice between the passport or getting a cold air intake and the whalen shift machine knob. Do I go for practicality (the detector) or increased driving (er...motoring) fun? Tough one.

BTW, my trip is still a little sketchy as I've been too busy at home and work to properly plan it. I'm driving north, stopping in Northern Vermont, then on to Canada. I'm leaning towards Prince Edward Island. I anyone has any suggestions for Nova Scotia, P.E.I. or New Brunswick, I'm open.

Thanx

jgpmini - congrats! time to update your sig.

i've got about 900 miles on the car now (my commute to work is only 3 miles and i've also got another vehicle). tint, viper stripes, alarm and head unit were added a few weeks ago along with some small accessories (glove box organizer, whalen shift knob, and icy-hot turn signal bulbs ). rogue intake, quicksilver exhaust, and armrest went in this past weekend. short shifter, speakers, subwoofer, and amp should be completed within the next 2 weeks or so. and i was trying to keep this car close to stock..

GWEENI was born June 15. I will meet him for the first time this evening. Am I the last of this group to take delivery? It has been 107 days from order date to delivery. (22 days to make him, 85 days to get here.) I have no fingernails left. Hope to meet many of you motoring once I finally take to the roads. Happy Motoring!

You're kidding! Is there a reason it took so long for you to get the car?
