I just ordered my MCS and already received a production number and production date -- 25 July 2003. But after scrolling through some of the message boards, it seems like quite a few people have had their new MINIs delayed. Is this common? Should I expect a delay? If I already have a production number and date, should I actually expect to receive my car then?

it all depends wether you trust your dealer !, mine should have been here 3 weeks ago, but I should get it this week (hopefully)... but i believe thats nothing to do with delays, just the fact that the dealer gave me a date they couldnt realistically achieve, if you have your 7 digit production number the signs would be good, although i'm surprised you have it as mine only got assigned a seven digit number a week before it was built... but maybe its different for the US versus the UK... at least I wont have to wait long now !!!

Now that you have a production number, that date is pretty reliable. My car had a June 6 production date (which never changed), and it is in Southampton waiting for the cruise to set sail.

I wouldn't expect to get it for at least a month after the production date because it takes 8-10 days to get across the water. Then it will sit at the VDC for a couple weeks before it is loaded onto a car carrier bound for your dealership.

I hope the wait doesn't kill you.

Expect between approx 5-7 weeks after the production date for delivery to the East Coast.

Excellent. This is all very good to hear.

I was shocked how quickly I got a production number. Only two days after ordering my car at the dealer. 2.5 months seems like such a long time, but I guess it could've been much worse!

If you go to the thread that Qamper started The June Production Group you can see how our group is tracking. My production date was 06/06 so you should be about 6 weeks behind us. Best of luck. The whole boat deal is a bit of a frustration.

My MCS was ordered on April 5th. Scheduled production was set at May 16th. The car was actually built May 12th. Loaded on the boat on May 20th. It arrived at my dealer in Orlando over the weekend. I should have it before this weekend.

Frustration? Not quite. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get anything, much less a brand new car. While the wait is long, the anxiety makes it kinda fun, doesn't it?

Okay, maybe I'm a freak. Still can't wait for it to get here. Can't wait can't wait can't wait.
