Offline | I'm wondering how long it takes to build a car too...although I guess mine is already built, with an Oct. 24 EPD? I would guess like a week? Maybe 2?? '04 EB/W MCS, AC, H/K stereo, Lapis/Black leather...arrived Dec. 26!! |

Offline | Pretty cool voice recog at ASK-MINI. However, it eventually dumped me back to a live person, who had exactly the same info as the web site: EPD 11/14. Thanks for the port info. I doubt I'll be motoring before Xmas although my MA says four weeks from production to dealershp is "average" in Texas. It is weird, but I've been on the fence to buy a new car for a year or more, and when I made the decision, I really didn't care one way or the other when the car got here, as long as it was within a few months or so. But now that they give you all this inforrmation, you can start obsessing over the date - it makes the waiting a lot harder. I think the fact that I'm going to be doing a huge road trip to pick it up builds the anticpation further. I gotta just forget about this stupid thing. - Mark |

Offline | As far as production time goes. It seems like it is about 3 days after it starts getting painted, and it looks like about 3 days before that. See the thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...roduction+time |

Offline | Well I checked the web page this morning, and my EPD is now Nov 14! Great news as it previously was Nov 28. Because of the change, I called ASK-MINI and checked the status as they sometimes differ. The recording stated that they did not have a production status, so I decided to speak with a rep. They indicated that I was status 150 - meaning production has started! A VIN number has not yet been assigned, but usually is when it is 150. They said that I'll probably get a VIN tomorrow or the next day. |

Offline | Wow, to go from 11/28 to actually being in production as we type! Quite a change. I've been 11/14 for a couple weeks, so perhaps mine is being built too. OTOH, I suspect they shuffle things around quite a bit to batch up colors or option packages on the line. I think I'll stay away from the phone on this. I've got enough keeping me away from doing real work. It will come when it comes. - Mark |

Offline | I'm figuring out right now that they definitely move the date around! The other day when I called I had an EPD of oct. 24 and the website said nov. 7, which made me SO happy! But now when I call the car is actually in production with a completion date of Nov. 7. The website still says scheduled for production. Sigh...I think I'm making things hard for myself with all this checking! '04 EB/W MCS, AC, H/K stereo, Lapis/Black leather...arrived Dec. 26!! |

Offline | I wish I could check up on the owners lounge.. We don't have that service here in Holland. I've been itching to call the dealer several times but feel that would be a little silly / obsessed.. ![]() As my prod week is 45 (next week hooray!!) I'll treat myself and call them on monday. Have your dealers kept you informed about production?? I haven't heard anything yet since ordering.. ![]() |

Offline | Lucebel, Greetings from the states. I'm originally from Holland. Ok, I was born here, but I get to travel there quite a bit. In fact, I will be in Amsterdam and Amersfoort on 13 Nov. My parents are originally from Enschede and I have relatives spread across the country. As far as my dealer is concerned, I have never heard from them about my production status, although, I only ordered it a week ago. Plus, they told me to call ask-mini (1-866-ASK-MINI) to check on the status or to check the web page. If you have a production number (a 7 digit number) maybe you could call the US number and check. I would expcet that all the production numbers are in the system and they could check any car from the US. Let me know if it works. |

Offline | Anybody in this thread expecting a MINI this month have second thoughts after reading Paul's terrific account of the upcoming "facelift"? I for one am happy to be getting a pre "facelift" MkI MINI, in its original incarnation. I don't care about having the latest or greatest, and I'm not worried about resale values because I plan to keep my Cooper as long as possible. The only argument I can see for waiting for the new version is if you are getting a 5-speed Cooper. The new Getrag gearbox should be an improvement over the Midlands box and just might be worth waiting for. (I'm getting the CVT version so it doesn't much matter to me.) Thoughts? |

Offline | I'm with you courtinnyc...as markjenn posted on another related thread you could wait forever because there'll always be something newer comin' down the pike...kind of like my MacIntosh computer. ![]() Thank goodness it appears that most of the little rattles and squeaks have been worked out. ![]() |

Offline | No second thoughts here. Minor changes like these don't bother me, unless there is one particular change that I'm interested in like the Getrag gearbox. However, I'm getting a Cooper S, so no worries. The only time I would wait is if there was an entire makeover of the car - like Honda does every 4 years. |

Offline | The Getrag gearbox, based only on reputation, might be something to give me pause to wait. It doesn't affect me since I have an S on order, but if I was considering a non-S, I'd certainly do some serious research to see how widespread complaints are on the current 5-speed. Facelifts? Don't care. I think a good parallel evolution might be the changes made in the 3-series over the last two years. If I look at both a 2002 and a 2004 330ic, I note cars that look every-so-slightly different; a re-positioned slit in the bumper or a different bend to a tail light bezel, but the change is very minor and I'd be hard pressed to say that one looks better than the other. Both look just fine, as I expect the Minis shipped now and next summer are both going to look just fine. It is mainly of concern to folks who worry about buying something that will immediately not be the latest - they really want their cars to say "I'm new." They tend to buy black cars and spend their weekends polishing them. I plan on getting mine dirty real quick. In my book, these are cars for driving, not looking at. - Mark |

Offline | definitely don't care if they change it. for one thing, I love the way it looks now. and now that I'll be getting it in about a month, I couldn't bear to wait that long for a "new" one anyway! Plus I ordered an S so the transmission issue doesn't matter. '04 EB/W MCS, AC, H/K stereo, Lapis/Black leather...arrived Dec. 26!! |

| Whatev. | Visited my dealer yesterday and could only find out that my baby will be made in November but on week 49. (3 spoke steering wheel for me YAY!) Colour me confused - what exactly does the production week mean? If I follow a calander, week 49 is actually the first week of December Have searched all over this forum but appear to have missed this bit of information. ![]() |
