My production date is set for Friday, 9/19. What does this actually mean? Does this indicate the start or the completion of the production cycle? (I am assuming the latter. However, it seems odd to start production on a Friday.) Assuming that production begins on the 19th, how soon after that date will the car be completed and ready for shipping across the pond?

According to BruceK in his FAQ:

ON ORDER
The factory recognizes your order and has assigned a production number for your MINI. During this step an estimated build date will also be given. These dates are usually that of a Friday, and indicate a car will be produced by rather than on this date.

How long does it take to build a mini? Ive got a sched. prod. of 9/26, when can I estimate they start putting it together?

29th is when it would be FINISHED being built, as mine was. Therefore it would probably start production around the 26-27th. It only takes a few days.

my experience was mine started about a week and half before my date then finished 3 days before my production date ... all production dates are fridays but cars are completed everyday of the week ... the date they give u is when it will be finished at the very latest but many are finished a few days ahead
