Could someone please tell me what the typical time is between the production date and expected delivery date for someone in Texas? I am on the waiting list, but my dealer is supposed to order mine by the end of this month and told me that i should expect delivery around late January. The reason I'm wondering is so I can get an idea if I am going to get the new steering wheel or not, which, as you know, phases in after December 1st. I called ASK MINI and they told me that it will be included in the sport package for the Cooper S. Thanks for your help.

I ordered my MCS on Aug 26th and got a EPD of Sep 26th. It actually hit the assembly line on Sep 18/19 and was finished by Sep 24th. My dealer had already ordered a flock of MCSs a week or so before Aug 26th and mine was a reconfigured flock member.

So...

If you order at the end of October, figure (on the outside) 4 weeks until the start of production. That may be just a wee bit early for the three-spoke wheel. To be safe, you might want to wait until the end of the second week in November.

production date to delivery is between 4 and 10 weeks. 4 - 6 weeks typically for east coast, and typically 6 - 10 weeks for west coast. Since you are in the middle I'd guess ~6 weeks.

When I ordered my car in September, I was told it'll be about 4-6 weeks from the production date in Oxford to delivery in San Antonio. Of course my production date was pushed 2 weeks since I ordered it. Oh well.

Thanks guasonjin. I live in San Antonio, so that helps. I wonder why they told me they were going to order it by the end of this month but I shouldn't expect delivery until January. I guess I should call them.

That sounds about right for a MC. Just to give you an idea, I ordered mine Sept 1st and received my production number two days later. My production date was 10/10, which got pushed to 10/17 two weeks later, then it got pushed again to 10/24 about the first of the month. Currently my baby's in the paint shop, so I'm pretty sure he'll be out by then. So I'm looking to get him end of November or first week of December. *Sigh*

It's my understanding that every dealer gets allotted certain production numbers, so they'll take their next available production number and assign it to you. Apparently Mini Center won't have any new production numbers until the end of the month. That's why certain dealers can get your car from the factory sooner than others - they haven't sold all of their slots. Of course, your next closest dealer is in Houston, but the people at Mini Center have been super with me, I'd stick with them if you can stand the wait.
