The February Production Group

Just starting a post for anybody getting their Mini in February. If you are, feel free to post whatever you. I can't wait for my Mini, I've waited to long to get it. Hope everyone is as excited, if not more than, as me.

I ordered mine on December 5th and I expect a delivery date for mid February. Is this a February groud or january ?

I was hoping to make the January production group, but I just called 1-866-ASK-MINI and I am confirmed for production in the second week of February.

What is the total production + shipment time to the U.S. West Coast? I'm hoping that it is around five weeks. I was told a mid-March arrival time by my dealer, but I may wind up taking delivery in April.

5-6 weeks sounds about right to get to the west coast. Sorry about it taking that long. You guys have to wait longer but you'll definitely have better weather to drive your Mini in than I will. I have every season here in NJ and right now it is freezing outside. Hope everything goes well for you and everyone else.

Hi - you might want to take a peek through previous month's threads. 5-6 is a pretty low estimate to get from producton to delivery on the west coast.

My car started production on December 8th, completed on the 19th. (it was really built the second week, but was on "production status" for both weeks) It was loaded on a vehicle on December 29th. It is on route to Port Hueneme, CA (the only West Coast Port) and will arrive on January 20th. After that, it will have to be unloaded, and brought to the VDC. From there, brought to the dealerships. I hope to have it early February - which will be about 8 weeks after production began if I'm lucky.

I'm hoping to take delivery in Feb, but I don't have a production date yet. I ordered in the day after Christmas. I have no car till it gets here, and I'm already tired of riding around in my husband's Suburban ;-)

well it has been indicated that after i ordered the car on ~28th(who knows when they really placed the order) that my expected delivery would be in mid-March. If I had ordered an S, the dealer indicated that the delay would be even longer.

so if you ordered around Christmas, you might be driving that suburban around a little while longer.

I ordered my MCS IB/W on Dec 27 and they told me about end of March. It is still fairly early, but is there a way to find out if I made February production. I went to the OL and it still says "on order". I'm in MD so shipping shouldnt take as long as it does for the west coast. I just wanted to check to make sure I was posting in the right area, cause February isn't too far off. Thanks.

X-Man: Call 1-866-ASK-MINI and they'll tell you when your mini will be built.

My IB/W Cooper was ordered on Dec. 24th, I was told late March delivery, we'll see though since I'm picking it up in Arizona. It's been "on order" on the website since ordered. I called 866-ask-mini and the automated system says "scheduled for production w/ no date." Called ask-mini again during the day and talked to a person and he said my mini should be done Feb. 7th, so it'll be built the first week of Feb, hopefully!

I bet this is a stupid question, but do you have to pay when you call 1-866-ASK-MINI, and if so how much? I would like to figure this out for sure before I start calling everyday when my car is nearing completion and even delivery. Thanks.

Hi, X-Man!

No, you do not have to pay. You can find out a lot just by talking to their computer -- so call, and call often! Status can change literally in the middle of the day (as mine just did -- I went from being in the "paint shop" this morning to being ready to load on the ship as of this afternoon!). You literally "talk" to the computer, whose voice seems to be done by a man in his early 20's from California ("Greetings fellow motorers!"). If you aren't satisfied with that info, you can speak to customer service (a live human!), and they've been very friendly each time I've called (only 3 times so far).

Of course, you need a production number to find out anything, but once you have that number assigned, call as often as you like (while maintaining your sanity ... )!

Thanks. I just called ASK MINI and talked to a person. They told me my car should be completed Feb 7th. This is good news. Not only am I in the Feb production group, but I am at the top of the list. Maybe I might even get my MCS before the projected date of March 27 (which is ironically my birthday). That would be a good early b-day present.
