My MCS goes into production this month with an estimated delivery of May. Is there only one shipload of MINI's coming in per month to Australia? Does it consistently arrive at a particular time of the month in Melbourne? and how long does it normally take from the Ships arrival, to customer delivery?
I have a date of May 31, but my suspicion is that they've just given me that as an arbitrary date in May....

i bought an in-stock car so know little about shipping, especially in melbourne, but...

All very good questions ... the best answer is to get the tracking details of your dealership, these will be available once your car has been allocated a VIN ... once armed with your VIN you will be able to track the progress of your car via the shipping company (again your dealership should be able to help you here) ... here is an extract of my tracking to give you some idea of timeframes

DISCHARGED SYDNEY 04/05/2003 14:00
LOADED ON VESSEL SOUTHAMPTON 27/03/2003 14:49
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL SOUTHAMPTON 14/03/2003 07:47
BOOKED SOUTHAMPTON 12/02/2003 14:49

Based on my observation I think there is only one boat a month (approx) that brings a precious cargo of MINIs to these fair shores ... the typical route appears to be Europe -> US -> NZ -> Oz (starting with Brisbane and working clockwise round to Perth) -> Singapore -> Japan

You then need to factor on another 10-14 days from the time of discharge until you actually take delivery

Its a long time to wait I know but it is worth it
