I'm a little puzzled about Mini UK's shipping arrangements.

Last week my dealer told me that my MCS was to to arrive at the dealer on Tuesday 23rd. Needless to say, by 4:30 I'd heard nothing so I phoned: "No it hasn't turned up - maybe tomorrow". The following day I'd still heard nothing so I phoned again and asked the dealer to find out what's going on. He was aplogetic but said that he had no way of contacting the haulage company and was unable to get a definite delivery date. He also said that the main BMW dealer (next door) didn't give customers an exact date - just told them "It'll be sometime in March".

Does this sound normal? I'm starting to wonder if my Mini is ever going to turn up!

It's not just the UK. I am expecting my mini by truck any day now. It was supposed to be here yesterday, but didn't show. Htrout13 was supposed to get her mini on Wednesday and still hasn't. The dealers say they have no way of tracking it from the VDC to the dealership. Not sure if it's the same in the UK, but in the US they seem real anxoius to want to meet their numbers for the month. If your mini is in their March number then they'll be working to get your mini to you by the 31st.

Well I think I figured it out...

Went down to the dealer after hours on Sunday and had a peep into the car pen - there was a brand new IB/W S in there. Anyway, had a call on monday saying that my car had "just come in" but that it still had to go through the workshop (?) and therefore the earliest I could pick it up was Thursday, i.e 1st April.

So I could be entirely wrong but it LOOKS like the car came in sometime between last last Tuesday (the estimated delivery date) and Sunday and my dealer ...erm... stretched the truth a bit in order for the car to appear on April's sales figures rather than March's...

Understandable if he has strict targets to meet but still annoying

isn't it! I hate the way dealers can't just tell you the truth! It would be easier to deal with then!!!
