United-States In production...how long before car gets to east coast of US?

Ordered my Mini first week of May. On Friday the status on the site changed to In Production.

In general how much longer of a wait am I looking at here?

Thanks

My guess would be maybe three weeks. Give or take. Mine was about four weeks from that point, and I'm in OH.

The web site is usually out of date. Look in the MINI2 FAQ for instructions. ASK-MINI will be your most dialed number. Then when it gets on a boat you can spend your time tracking it like this:

My 04 MCS was March Production ... my group felt I was rather fast tracked. But I like to think it jsut kept moving along because I didn't check up on it very much.

here was timeline:
2/14/04 - ordered
2/15 - minor change to order
2/16 - received production number via e-mail; Status: scheduled for production, with no production date
3/6 - production started, scheduled end date 3/14
3/13 - awaiting transportation
3/17 - loaded on vessel
4/1 - arrived at Charleston VDC
4/7 - arrived at Dealer in Atlanta
4/16 - Mr Q was Mine

I never had a production start date ahead of time. 3 weeks into my process, it just "was." Once Mr. Q was loaded onto the ship, the shipping websites, ASK MINI and the Owners Lounge had no clue where the car was and would even show it going backwards in status. I called once a week until it was on the ocean. Then Iwaited to hear from my MA.

ASK MINI (and I never talked to anyone, I just used the automated section), was more accurate than the owner's lounge.

BSQ

I don't drive too fast ... you just look too slow! We're not lost ... this is the scenic route

So it takes over two weeks to go from loaded on ship to delivered at dealer? Seems pretty long to me...

It really depends on several factors (i.e. how long the car waits to be loaded on a vessel, how long it sits at VPC, how far from Port of entry dealer is located, etc)

My previous MCS, took exactly 3 weeks from when it finished production to dealer delivery (BTW, I am also in NJ).

You can get an idea of how long the voyage takes from South Hampton to New York, Charleston or Port Hueneme by using the Wallenius Wilhelmsen "Search By Ports":

No wonder we wait so long in the West

Nice link to the WW website. It takes 23-26 days to go from South Hampton to Port Huenueme, while only 8-9 to NY. Argh! No wonder the waits are so agonizing long for us in BMW's Western division!

Wish list: for BMW to have a VDC somewhere on the Gulf Coast (Houston? Biloxi?) so's a car doesn't have to go back east as it's shipped west from South Hampton down thru the canal and up to PH, then backtracks 1,200 miles over numerous mountain ranges and the Continental Divide to Denver

The irony? KC and Oklahoma City are only 600 miles away, and they get their cars from VDCs in Charleston and Newark. Another day on the transport thru the flatlands and they could be in Denver.

Sorry for the mild rant, but it just doesn't make sense. Jimbo
