I placed a deposit with Baron Mini of Kansas City on 6/12 and at that time spec'd a MCS DS/W, etc. I was given an order form with the '04 spec and pricing with the assurance that once the '05 info was released it would be updated. I was told by the MA that the order would not be placed until July for August production and delivery by the second week in Sept. Fine.

I called approx. 6/21 to check on my day to place the final order as I was leaving for vacation 6/26-7/4 and I might want to change the spec (I was thinking of going to EB/W). I was told by my MA not to worry, I wouldn't have to place the final order until about a week after I returned. Fine. She also said that I was going to receive updated order form with the new pricing, could I please sign it and return it? Fine. Got back from vacation, found the new forms, signed, and returned them. By yesterday, 7/14, I still had not heard from her despite the fact that she said she'd be calling to verify the order before it was placed, so I e-mailed her. I received a reply of 'the order's already in and you production # is 7456XXX. Your MCS DS/W is on order.' What the f---??????? Why was I not called???? Why was I not given the option of changing color as promised and then given my production #?????? But then I read 'You have a few days to change the color' Whew! So I called this morning as soon as I could and changed the spec and she said she'd get it entered.

Then for kicks I called ASK Mini to find out if I had a production week already. (I do - it's #32). The Ask Mini rep also mentioned that my order was placed on 6/22 and production week assigned 7/12. Again what the f---?????????? She also said it was still showing DS, and I was not likely to get it changed since she didn't show it as being EB yet.

So now I ask of you all, please tell me I'm not too late! I had seen a few posts mentioning really late color changes, but I couldn't locate them in a search. Do I have any chance of getting EB and not DS? Or am I stuck with DS????

Sorry for the rant, I am just mad and heartbroken at the same time. EB was always my first choice but I allowed my hubby to sway me the day of the deposit and say DS. Now I may not get my first (real) choice.

Ouch. That really does suck. I say if you don't get the color/options you want, call the MINI dealer and refuse the order. Tell them you want to be on the next allocation with your correct color/options or you're taking your business elsewhere. My $0.02

Orders often go in, then are changed by the dealer to customer spec. If it is still on order, but not scheduled for production, it should be no problem for the dealer to change. Get on with your MA immediately - you don't have much time, but should be OK if it is soon enough.

I was thinking the same thing. I am going to call the MA in a few hours and see if she was successful. If she was not and if she does not cooperate in giving me a new order I may be calling Mini of St. Louis or even Mini of the Hamptons. sigh.....
