Ordered a 2005 MCS B/B on August 21, ask MINI tells me my car is scheduled for production with no specific date. Does anyone out there who has ordered around this time been given a production date? My MA told me I could expect the car in October, I'm kind of doubting that..........

Your MA should have an idea of the production week your car is scheduled for. Also, if you call ASK-MINI and talk to a real person (instead of the automated system) they often have a better idea of what is going on.

October is possible if your car is built in the next week or so, since Oct can always mean the end of October. Its usually a quick change from scheduled to production to actually being built. And building only takes about a week. 4-6 weeks is a rough estimate of time from being built to at your dealer and ready for delivery.

Of course once your car is built, there's all the waiting to get on a ship and transport and potential for delays so don't get too set on any specific time. You are making progress though, but the wait from ordering to delivery is the hardest time of a MINI owner's life

Finally someone with my exact question! I too ordered mine in August, and everyday I call..; "Scheduled for production, with no confirmed production date yet." Urg..... how long is this supposed to take?!

Generally it takes about a month - five weeks after you formally place your order and get a prod # to actual build week. Use ASK-MINI, not the OL--it's waayyyyy slow. But yes it can take awhile, esp in the Western division: I ordered my car July 2, it was built August 12th, sat on the docks in merry olde England for 10 days, 3 week boat ride delayed slightly by Ivan, cleared VDC the 24th, EDD 9/30 --exactly 90 days. I ordered on Aug. 28, and was waiting for production date too. But, just yesterday it went right to "in production" and is scheduled to be completed on Oct. 4

Do you just need to call ASKMINI and listen to the machine, or do you need to talk to someone to get the most up-to-date info?

Talk to a real person for the best info, at least to start with. That's where things like build week will come from. Once your car is in production, there's not usually much of a difference between the machine and a real person.

Many thanks to Stryder and the others who replied to my post for the excellent info. I called ASK MINI and they told me my car will be built OCT 7. I've got to say this has to be the most unique car buying experience of all time. I can't imagine being this excited about buying any other car. This is kind of like a cult...but in a good way.....I'm ready to drink the Kool-Aid
