Ireland Production slot question...

The scenario is as follows: Dealer says no more production slots for the Cooper for October or November. Yet he may be able to get some more for November and will know in 1 to 3 weeks. The CooperS still has slots for October and November.

So the questions are: 1) Are the production slots strictly for each model or are they interchangeable? 2) Does the dealer try to fill as many of those slots with the more expensive CooperS until the last minute and then fill up what's left with the Cooper?

I only ask because I've been told there are no Cooper slots till December and found out from another buyer(whose getting the S) that the price is going up. I asked the dealer and they said it will be increased for anyone with a December slot or later. Now when I put my money down and received my receipt with the price of the Cooper quoted I asked if this was the final price. The salesman said it was while he did mention that the production slots were filled through November he never mentioned that the price would increase after that months slots were filled. It may seem silly on my part, but how I am treated plays a big part in whether or not I will buy a car. So I'm trying to find out how things are done to determine if I'm being forced to wait even though I've put money down so the dealer can make a larger profit while I wait and someone who comes in to order in the next 1 to 3 weeks gets their CooperS at a lower (buy still more profitable price for the dealer) price. This all to fill production slots(quotas).

Hope it makes sense. Thank you for any help or advice.

Your question regarding whether an allocation was model specific was answered when you asked it yesterday:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-discussion/72794-production-slots-how-do-they-work.html

Each allocation is for a specific model.

You should contact MINIUSA to confirm whether the price increase is applicable to cars delivered starting January or to cars built starting January. If it's the latter, you need to get an allocation for a December build to avoid the price increase.

If its the former, be prepared to be accountable for the jump in the price. (And why the Irish flag on this post)?

where did they answer about the dealer being able to assign the slots to different models. Yes I understand that the various models get different slots, but if the slots can't be filled by one model can another be substituted? It may sound trite, but if it's allowed it opens up manipulation as to which buyers get their cars ordered faster and for me this could be very expensive. Sorry to ask again.

"Each allocation is for a specific model" means the model type for a particular allocation CANNOT be changed.

The number of each model to be produced in a month is fixed, so it doesn't make sense that dealers could be changing the "mix" of models they are allocated.

Basically we get a number of blank cars, but they're already designated a model code (and thereby a model). Each number refers to one of the blank cars, but the only things we can change are the colors and options on the car (just like using the builder online but less graphical interface.)
