Handling feels superior, turn in better, and a bit less harsh... Only have a a little miles in so far. Got black wheel bolts coming to replace the ugly gold. Should I paint the calipers red? Sometimes I feel that's a bit much, but the cars red...so

Congrats, HoustonMini! Mine's also sitting at the dealer waiting for me to pick 'er up. I'm working pretty late all week anyway, so I will have to wait until Saturday

Anyway, window-tinting to be done today, aero-kit painted and installed and ready by Friday. I would have to bring it back to get the wheel arches painted body color when the paint shop can accomodate. They'll lend me a loaner-mini while that's being done.

I got the call yesterday (28th) that the car is in and I can pick it up any time, although I would have to bring it back for them to finish the aero-kit paint. I had to leave work and go down to take a look! SWEET!

Got the HIDs too, huh? (A.K.A. Xenons). Nice pictures! Looks exactly like mine (except the wheels (v-spokes).

Congratulations and happy motoring! Mine is waiting for me at the dealer. I'll pick her up on Saturday, however, I am leaving work earlier today to sign all the papers.

Okay, I signed and picked it up!
I couldn't wait until Saturday, so I've been driving it since Wednesday night. What a great car!
Now, I'll have to wait for my MA to come by with a loaner to pick up mine and get the aero-kit installed and black wheel arches painted body color (as well as the rallye driving lamps).
Pictures will follow the complete package!

You'll be in it before ya know it! That's only the first hump. The next hump to get over is the break-in period. I have about 300 miles on mine now and I can just feel that torque ready to bust open on those super-sticky Dunlops. What an excercise in restraint, man. Still waiting on the call from the dealer about my aero-kit. I'm glad I didn't wait until they were ready with it before I picked up the car -- I would still be waiting!

Got it!

I finally got it today... I went home to retrieve it from the shipping company! I drove it back to work and it's awesome. I had it all of 15 minutes before I had a bunch of businessmen approach me talking about how they want to get one, blah blah.. and how cool mine is.

It will be hard to not push it too fast. But, it's soooo much faster than the car I have been driving, and I can not believe how well it handles around corners....

Hmm... I think I need to go to a track in a couple thousand miles.

Yo Hyperconvert:

To revive this little bit, I called my dealer about another matter (I managed, in week two, to get dented by another driver on my street who backed into my bonnet....ARGH....but we're dealing), I asked about the paint, and my SA was surprised to find that I had not been asked if I wanted the black trim, or if I wanted my wheel arches painted silver to match the kit. He said - pick one option, and bring it back and we'll make it the way you want, no charge. So I'm going back for the black to be painted on the aero kit to match the wheel arches.

I like that more than the all silver coopers I've seen on here (they're NICE, but I like the black on the aero kit a bit more).

Cheers!

The other kits that I have seen still had the black strip all around the car.

Dizzy minds want to know...

Hi chaincooperS,

I am glad to hear that they are giving you the option to go back and do it your way. Good on you for pursuing it!

I have had some bumper problems myself... on day 2 of ownership I managed to reverse into my neighbour's car's bumper - but luckily I was only going at 5 mph.

My troubles are still not over with my dealer but I am booked in on Wednesday next week to have it all sorted. Feels like it has been dragging forever now... Well tomorrow I would have had the car for a month.

Now I just need to get a new aerial - somebody stole mine last night!!

Good luck with it!

It's so hard not to punch it, but I'm keeping it easy for now. I know what you mean about handling: In 1997 I bought an ACR Neon coupe for autocross racing because of its great handling (stock adjustable Konis, etc.), but after driving the Cooper S, I can't go back into that Neon.
I'm a little over 400 miles now. Give me a yell when you pass the 1200 mark!

I just passed the 1200 mark.. only a few more miles to go before I can let loose and have some fun!! been loving every minute of driving it.. probably going to get the black aero grills for the front... adding a rear fog light, (but hooking it up to the reverse lights so I have 3 white backup lights) and then I'm done for a while

I got my MINI back and the aero kit is absolutely bangin' with the black trim! There are a few updated pics in my gallery, but I've attached below too.

Gotta love the DS!

Woohoo! My dealer just called and I go to pick up my 2005 DS/B MCS tomorrow afternoon at 3:00! It's got the Premium and Sport packs, heated lapis blue and black leather seats, 16-inch wheels (I had the dealer swap 'em), Sirius, JCW carbon fiber intake scoop and CAI (good price on those, mind you), moonroof, black stripes, chrome interior and exterior and a few other goodies I'm sure I'm forgetting.

It will be rather sad to see the E36 M3 for the last time, but I'm really excited about the new MINI. Now if the weather will just hold out for some nice, open roof motoring!

Now the word HyperConvert is that you have illuminated door sills. I've been eyeing those. What are your thoughts?
