At Port awaiting Shipping Vessel?

Okay I just called 1-866-ASK-Mini and it says that my mini is at port awaiting a shipping vessel.....My MA told me over the weekend that it arrived in Port Hueneme last Saturday the 15th. I was told it takes 5-6 days to get the mini to the dealership...(Bob Smith in Calabasas) what does at port awaiting a shipping vessel really mean?? cause it sounds like its awaiting a ship...to go across the pond.....but it was shipped back in mid december....any clue???

thanks

From my experience thus far, it seems that ASKMINI as well as the Owner's Lounge, may have old information to go on. Currently both say our MCS is awaiting transport, yet I see that it has been loaded on the Jingu Maru and currently paddling its way to the U.S..

My car did the same thing. It was En Route as it made it's way across the Atlantic, then went to Awaiting Transport when it got to the destination port. My guess is that this status is also used when it is at a port waiting for a truck to go to the VDC. My car went to status at the VDC when it arrived at the dealer on 1/3 and is still at that status! As the OL says your dealer will know more...

Cheers,

John

My MINI arrived in Port Hueneme on 12/17/04 (per MA, right on schedule), and as of 12/18/04 ASK-MINI informed me it was, "At port awaiting shipping vessel". This meant it was awaiting a transport truck to take it to the MA. It did take an unusual amount of time to get to the MA (in Monrovia), but at least I knew it was on So Cal soil.

My MINI was finally delivered to the MA on the morning of 12/31/04. According to sources, the Holidays and many many MINIs backed things up terribly. the VDC in PH had ships coming in every two days for a couple weeks.

Hope my time frames help ease your anxiety. Just hang in there, owning and driving the coolest thing in automobiles is just a few days away. Just concentrate on where you will park your baby for the forum photo shots.

I'm pretty sure that the information at ASK-MINI only goes as far as the port at Southampton - at least that's what I was told. Once the car gets on a boat, they know nothing, so the last bit of information will be "at port awaiting vessel".

The online service is a bit better, as they'll know when it gets to the VDC, etc. even if their data runs a few days behind. Once it gets to the port, your dealer is going to be the only one with decent information, and even they may not have it...

The trip from the port to the dealer can vary drastically. People whose cars were shipped with ours got their cars anywhere from a week before to a week after us, and distance had little to do with timing. Some of the people who got their cars a week before us were hundreds of miles farther away from the VDC than we are. Our car took two weeks from landing at port to get to the dealer. In our case the delay was between the port and the VDC, but you can also get delays at the VDC or waiting for transit to the dealer.

I would keep picking on your MA, as s/he will have access to the most up-to-date information. The OL was about four days behind for us (it still showed "in transit " the day we picked up the car). And ASK-MINI was worthless (I wonder if they still show it at the port?)

Be patient. I know this is the worst time...

Now really, would stalking and pacing around like an expectant parent be as exciting if you knew the all the facts?

I ordered my car from Flow! My husband called last week and they said the boat would dock 3/22 and it wouldn't be till the next week that they will have it at Flow. This is going to be a very long week!
