Congratulations Slide-o-Rama

Slide - Sounds like you had a nice trip home. Hope you're enjoying that new MINI!

crosebud - you have your MINI yet? I read that you were picking it up, but I forgot to note the date as I was reading. I hope you have your MINI!

There's another March person, madaboutmax, that was supposed to get her MINI convertible yesterday. So exciting - we almost all have our MINIs!

The husband and I washed up both of the MINIs today. Mine stayed in the carport today though after it's bath. We took his out motoring instead. That's okay. Tomorrow is Sunday - my day to MINI!

Oh...saw TWO MINIs today while we were out! One in my husband's color (different roof)...we waved and honked at the two passengers...and they waved back! Saw a LY/W Cooper at the mall...no owner in site. Cool though!

And, about the pictures. Me, I like seeing pictures of everyone else and their MINIs, but I haven't had any pictures taken with my MINI yet. I'm one of those who loves taking pictures, but I don't really like to have my picture taken.

Hope everyone is having a splendid weekend!

Debbie

Slide,

Here I am looking at pics of your car...and I think to myself how I was feeling sorry for you back in January because you were so excited about the 'April' delivery of the car... It seems so much longer than just a few months actually.

Congratulations. My turn's coming in a couple of days!

thanks all for your kind words.

TomB - it certainly was worth the wait especially since there was a few great free extras!

Tux, I can't wait to see your mate. I actually snuck past Rolfe today to sneak a peak through the window hoping to see yours and give you some feedback, unfortunately it wasn't visible if its there. It was like 3 months from order to delivery for me, seems like longer....I bet you just can't wait after ordering your in December!

I have 700 kilometers under my belt now and this car is awesome. Lots of people waving and everytime I park it there is a crowd gathered when I get back to it!

Slide and crosebud...

Excellent looking rides, both of you!

Slide, that dark silver has that sleek look to it. It screams "Let's Go Faster!!" doesn't it? And you thought the wait for the car was long. That 1250 break-in miles are gonna seem ten times that!

crosebud, as a fellow Non-S MINI owner, I love that color combo. ESPECIALLY that red in the seats! The wife wanted the red to match our CR/W MINI but we never saw any actual photos of how they would look until we saw yours. (yep, you got it...now we wish we would have ordered ours with red in them)

Both of you...enjoy!

Gorgeous car, Slide! Such a nice sunny day you had, too. The stripes look great!

Thanks, guys! Everything went pretty smoothly with the pick-up. My MA spent about an hour showing me around the car. I was so excited and nervous, I couldn't really take in much but it was a friendly experience. I have no complaints.

It was late afternoon when we got out of the dealership. My friend and I headed straight for the Golden Gate Bridge, Wow, that bridge never looked so magestic! We zipped into Marin county, onto twisty Highway One heading towards the coast. Was thrilled to get a wave from a silver MC climbing in the opposite direction (so many have told me the wave is dead here in the Bay Area). We had dinner at a funky seafood shack at Stinson Beach. Could have had more than a glass of wine after all the excitement, anticipation, stress of the day, but thought better of it! Drove carefully back up dark windy coast road, whooo, the dash shown bright! Hopped on the Richmond Bridge, over to the the East Bay, dropped my friend off in Oakland, then hopped onto the Bay Bridge and back into San Francisco. Barely slept last night, I was so excited. And to think, this is just the beginning . . .

Is it the supercharger pulley?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Should I be "very afraid"?

Hey JohnnyL! Judy and I just got back from our little Santa Barbara getaway. (Wow, there are some fantastic roads out that way!) Anyway, Murray has passed the 1300 mile mark and is fully broken-in. In response to your comment, I don't necessarily hear anything helicopter-like, but Murray does make some noises similar to the Jetson's flying car at idle and low speeds. There are so many interesting noises coming out of the car at this point - it's like a symphony of motoring... I know the designers put a huge a mount of effort into the sound quality experience of the car, and I'm thinking what you're hearing and what I'm hearing may be part of that.

Just for the record, is your helicopter-like sound unpleasant or grating in any way? My Jetson sound seems like some kind of air/fluid process...

Congrats to those Late-Bloomers in the March build group! Are we all caught up now? Anyone still waiting to take delivery of their car?

Kellzir, did you get yours? (Cool pic. BTW!)

It might be nice to get a roster of everyone's car that has posted in this thread. I'd be interested in seeing the variety in one place. (Does this sentence make sense? I may have sampled too much wine in Lompoc, Solvang, and Santa Barbara!)

Hey, it makes as much sense as "Military Intelligence" or "Jumbo Shrimp", etc..
The idea is a good one though..hopefully someone can sort that one out.
Good call Dave!

JohnnyL,
I've given this a lot of thought over the weekend.

Did you ever stick your head out the window and look up? Maybe it really IS a helicopter?

When I shut down Obie he makes a powering down sound similar to the one the Batmobile did in the TV show. Pretty cool.

How did you track your ship???

Nugget was started in April but finished in May, and is now crossing the pond aboard Maersk Teal. Unfortunately, I can't find a site tracking her progress except for the WW page that lists her departure from Southampton on May 8 and her arrival in NY on May 13. There is no current listing on www.sailwx.info, nor on the NOAA Website.

So were you "old timers" in the March group able to track your ships at all, or did they just vanish into the blackness of the Atlantic for several days and then show up in port?

TIA, Pete

I think I have just figured out what you do for a living. You're an accountant, aren't ya?!
I still think you're counting by 2's on some of us.
By the way...I'm wise to you bud. You kept the count low by going to other threads (turncoat!) and posting there. You have like 900 other posts in other threads.

*shakes head and sighs "I think I need a life" *

This is one for Uncle AprilWhine I think, but some of us didn't do the day-by-day tracking of the ships once they made open water. I just knew that they keep a pretty darned tight schedule and will be on the money or (a few times) a day early. The ASKMINI and the OL may not show that day but rest assured it will have landed by the 13th if your booking shows it. (assuming it left on time that is)

Just think...in 4 more days you won't have to think about how many miles of ocean are under your MINI right now. J/K!
