Offline | So, how many days will it be before we see pictures of Tux's car? I expect he'll be out motoring for quite a while given the horrible wait he's been through! Now that exams are over, I've started driving my MINI full time to get used to the manual transmission (this is my first manual car! i feel a bit sorry for it actually) and the extra handling. And, of course, to show the car off to my friends, since it hasn't really been living up here in Blacksburg until now. Spent a lot of time this evening in an abandoned office park learning parking lot driving - highway driving at speed is pretty straightforward, pick a gear and go! Less than a week until the cross country drive begins. I can't wait! Ben |

Offline | Thanks for posting those Liam! Speaking from a rather selfish viewpoint, I'd say Mick chose very wisely in his color choices! (he has the S version of our car!) Their smiles tell it all, don't they?? Congrats Mick!! ![]() |

Offline | Yea, I noticed that...and where the steering wheel is (or isn't). That's what they get for being upsidedown from us "normal" folk. Boy, I can't wait for the backfire from THAT statement! (runs and hides behind Tom) |

| -Mr T- | I had time to pick up the car and drive home before heading off to work for a ten hour shift. I got home at 10pm and Chrissy and I went for a drive around the block to check out the Xenon headlights. Whoo they are really cool and kind of space ageish as you turn them on and they level out.. ...and I have to say "What wait?" It really is all worth it to get a car that you've specced. Chrissy loves the car and today it's her turn to work and my turn to drive.. When I first checked out the MINIs she just wanted to stay in the car while I looked. I 'forced' her to come and have a look and she didn't like the boot size, didn't like the two door etc etc. What a difference now..check out the grin on her face as we picked it up.. I could never believe that buying a car could have been like this! It's better than when I picked up my first mini in 1976... Mick ![]() |

| -Mr T- | Oh... and another thing. I have to work on my time management as wherever I've been with the car I get held up by people asking me questions about the car. Today I've met three or four people 'who used to own a mini'. I've also started to wear out the bonnet release from opening it to show people.. ![]() |

Offline | That's the best part Mick. Wait until you go on a drive with Alan, with his gift of the gab a stranger only needs to think about looking at the MINI and he's off like a shot talking to them with the bonnet up! ![]() Since owning my MINI I've met the first person in Canberra to have a classic Cooper S, that then lead to a conversation about our respective numeric number plates, have also met a lady who used to race Cooper Ss and heard all about her twin sidedraft carbies sticking in where the glove box should be ... the stories are endless and as you haver already experienced is part of the joy of owning the car. Next time you pass a school bus full of kids they'll probably wave like nutters at you, or have your window down as a convoy drives through a town on a drive and you see people spotting one, then two, then three, then ten MINIs all in a line, the kids go crazy jumping up and down with joy, it's great. The broad appeal the car has from an 77 year old to a 7 year old is just astounding, and always makes you feel good about buying a MINI. You don't get that with a Rex. ![]() |

Offline | Just realized I had a whole bunch of gallery space at my local club's website. Please check it out. I've got lots of pics of Murray, plus some sweet roads we've been on, and a series from Murray's stripe installation: am0eba's Southern California MINI Maniacs Gallery _Dave_ |

Offline | What a nice spot for morning coffee! Morning coffee for me is at my desk looking out the window at the train tracks across the street. Yuck! Anyway, cool photos! The bridge is nice too. :-) Slide - is that your MINI with the aero kit? I think I got lost in the posts for a couple of days. Either way, cool MINI. The aero kit looks nice on that combo. Magictux - your MINI is cool too! That red inside really pops off. I love that. It's a little odd seeing the steering wheel on a different side. Boy that would take some getting used to for me. Hope you're having fun with your MINI. Have a great day! Debbie |
