| MINI2 Regular | Hi Guys, well went on my afternoon motoring date with the very very very tall fellow (6'9"). He *did* fit in the MINI but not without some serious seat maneuvering and a bit of scrunching. (I do think MINI might be exaggerating about the "people up to 6'8" fitting comfortably" thing, but more on that another time. Just wanted to make it official that though I may have just learned what a pulley is a few days ago (thanks to all you March experts), there is no doubting that I am a certifiable MINI nut. Proof of this--the email correspondence that has transpired between me and the tall one since this motoring date along the California coastline: Dear Ian, Thanks for a totally great day, filled with such fun and adventure. You may be my passenger anytime. Sincerely, Lighthouse (the MINI) HIS REPLY: Why thank you, sweet MINI! I also enjoyed the day. I must confess that I may not have given your charms the full appreciation that they were undoubtedly due, as I was somewhat distracted by your driver. I found her to be very compelling, in so many ways. I hope that you're not jealous. yours, Ian p.s.: If you see her, could you tell her that I'm really looking forward to seeing her again...? Thank you! HMMM . . . So I *guess* it's a good thing that he likes me better than my MINI . . . ![]() |

Offline | Well, 'Rose', looks like you might have a "keeper." Tell me--does he have big feet? You know that they say about a man with big feet . . . . . . . Big shoes! (Julia Roberts in "Notting Hill") |

Offline | updates and hello Hi everyone! crosebud - glad to hear that you had such a nice time with your tall friend. It sounds like you are going to have another date! Much luck to you! Tom - sorry about all of the alphabet soup talk. I must say though, I didn't think MINI owners were allowed to be curmudgeons. Honestly, I hadn't thought of DSC as you mentioned. I guess I thought of it as allowing you to push it a little bit further than you would normally be able to. There's definitely a difference between driving my MINI and driving my classic Mustang. I did as someone suggested and turned off the DSC, and like Ben I noticed a difference. I plan to take it out on the Interstate to try it for a little longer distance. I posted a message in the Tar Spots thread about the little black spots on my car. There weren't any the first couple of times that I washed it, but they've been there every time since I first noticed them. And after my long drive on Saturday, there were lots of them! What we found weird is that except for this long drive that I took, my husband and I drive the same route to work everyday and park in the same place...and he has no spots, not one. The only difference we can come up with is that he has the Pirelli's and bullet spokes and I have Dunlops and web spokes. And the spots are only in places where the tires can throw things on them. Not a clue why it's happening. THE GOOD NEWS is that someone from MINI USA responded to my post and they are going to have someone contact me. I was really relieved to hear that, especially after my MA didn't have any suggestions for me. I hope there's nothing wrong with my little MINI, but the circumstances seem very odd. I thought it was very nice that they read the posts here on mini2 and try to help MINI owners. Oh...I bought one of those sprayers that was the topic of discussion a few weeks ago. Other than the black spots on my car, I thought the sprayer was pretty nice. I'm hoping that it will help to prevent scratches or swirls since the sponge won't get put in a bucket of dirty water. So far, I have to say that it's a cool little gadget. Well, happy motoring everyone! Debbie |

Offline | New Pics Added Hey, March Builders! By clicking on the link in my signature, you'll see some photos of the Alta CAI and the 15% Pulley. BTW, these additions have made an already fun car even more of hoot to drive! ![]() |

Offline | Very cool pics, Johnny L! I love the one with the reflecting peak - is that a mirage or an actual body of water? Oh yeah, the underhood stuff looks cool too! _Dave_ Addendum: I just got a new "performance" mod from Jamie at South Bay MINI - terrible pic, but shows how subtle this mod is: ![]() Here's a closer look: ![]() Oh yeeeaaah BOI! _Dave_ Last edited by am0eba : Jun 17th, 2005 at 04:52 AM. |

Offline | Dave: That pic of the mountain range was taken on I-80 in Utah. It's actually a section of the Salt Flats that had flooded, and yes, that's a reflection of the mountains in the water. That was snapped at about 75 mph. Getting that shot was absolute dumb luck; I just held up the camera--keeping my eyes on the road ahead of me--and snapped out toward the passenger window. Go figure! C-rose: Thanks for the compliment on Black Jack--he just loves the attention! |

Offline | Nice pictures JohhnyL! Do you hear any ticking noise coming from the webspokes? I have and a few other people as well. Just want to make sure it's the wheels and not something serious with the car. I have been busy Motoring, finally out of the break-in period. Got the AeroKit installed. |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | Great mod, bet it adds at least 10 bhp. ![]() Today is the first meeting of March group cars. I should be meeting Pamlico later today for a caravan to MoT. Our cars rode the same ship over too. I'll post pics of the siblings later. ![]() ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | April, Not only does it add HP, it REALLY improves the Handling! (I'm thinking of trying to finagle another one for the front end.... That should get me equivalent performance to a pulley and coilovers! March Group meet... Hmmmmmm. Hey, we should all try to make next year's AMVIV and get some face time. I think it will be in March too! That would be our MINIs one-year birthday. Say hi to each other for me - I've enjoyed both your posts! _Dave_ Last edited by am0eba : Jun 17th, 2005 at 03:07 PM. Offline | Hey, Kell', good to hear from you again. No, I haven't heard any ticking noise from the wheels as such. I've heard all kinds of other clicks, ticks, and snicks, but I'm not worried about any of 'em. I figure this car just has a lot to "say," so I'm just gonna let him speak his mind, so to speak. If it breaks, I'll just fix it, that's all! P.S.: I just noticed your OD pic. The "D" kinda threw me off a little! Last edited by Johnny L : Jun 17th, 2005 at 05:10 PM. |

Offline | JohnnyL - great looing car with the pulley Kellzir - Like the aerokit. If I were to spend more money it would be for the Works kit I'll have to wait on that for a while tho...I would be up for a March build meet. We could do it every year in a difference place. I think it's kind of a cool idea actually... Making my first mountain trip this weekend into the North Georgia twisties Will try to post pix later...Mike |

Offline | Here's my latest appearance mod. I replaced the stock yellow grill slats with ones painted dark silver to match the stripes: ![]() Big thanks to Jamie and Jennifer at SOuth Bay MINI in Torrance, CA for the painted slats! The experiment was a success! _Dave_ |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | Met up with Pamlico, Mrs Pamlico and their JCW MCS yesterday! Very handsome family group. I think I got a picture with both of our cars in the shot, but have to wait till I'm back on broadband to post. MoT today! I'm game for a meet at AMVIV next year, but I don't think I will take the time to drive my MINI out. ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | Hey Zip, I considered continuing the stripe, but in my crude PhotoShop-type mockups, it just didn't work for me. The stripe also stops at the bumper in the back, so it seemed to work from a "form" standpoint: ![]() April, I like the idea of a meet in Vegas for two reasons: 1. It's relatively easy for just about anyone in the US to get there. (Flights are cheap, and it's "centrally"-located) 2. I like Vegas (and I don't even gamble!) Since AMVIV has been so successful in the past, and since it's most-likely happening in March, it seems like an ideal opportunity for MPG05 (March Production Group, 2005 ) to get together.Folks that don't want to make the drive from some of the more distant locations can rent all kinds of exotic cars easily there, including MINI Cooper S convertibles, Lotus Elises, 'Vettes, Mustangs, Cobras, Vipers, Smart Cars, electric cars, even Ferraris! I had a great time there renting an Elise from Rent-A-Vette. _Dave_ |
