So now imagine this fellow riding more or less comfortably in the passenger seat of a MINI for 12 hours from San Francisco to Eugene, Oregon. Okay, so maybe the giant cupholder was a little in the way of his left knee, but other than that, everything was pretty darn great. This man is all set to motor some more!

Cool pic., Crosebud I don't see you in that pic tho

You need an "Actual Size" Mini bumper sticker

MINIs on Top is the PREMIER MINI event! This year, it was June 18, 200 MINIs drove to the top of Mt Washington in NH. It's great fun, if you can make it next year I highly recommend it.

There are many threads in the NE forum about MoT. Cape Cod MINI is the organizer. And the picture on the front page of MINIUSA is from last year's MoT.

There are some threads about 'MOT" aka: Minis On Top both here and on North American Motoring.com. If memory serves me (I LOVE Iron Chef!) it was an event to climb Mt. Washington in New Hampshire.

I did that by motorcycle a number of years ago.

That sounds really cool. I can't wait to do something fun like that. I really wanted to go to the Dragon for this year's event. It was the week after I got my MINI though, and I wasn't quite ready. Actually, as far as the Dragon in concerned...I want to go there some time soon, rally or no rally!

Chili and grape soda? That sounds very brave AprilWhine.

For a similar event on a much smaller scale, check out the Devil's Backbone run. Jay (sig33kde) is putting a lot of effort into making it good.

Also, our local club is batting around the idea of a mini Dragon Run. If we do, I'll post it in this thread.

I already have chocolate stains on the space cloth seats. Comes from breaking bars into the small squares to share with Fuzzy. Oh well.

That sounds cool. I will have to check into that. We've driven to Cherokee twice now. For us, I think the Dragon is only about an hour more...if I can just get my husband to bypass the casino...just once!

Chocolate on the seats...I suppose as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters!

Have a great weekend,

Debbie

Just went on a great run today with our local MINI club, SCMM: SoCal MINI Maniacs

Had great time seeing the sights, and enjoying all the fun. We had between 45 and 50 MINIs.

I've been involved in car clubs before, but MINI-folk are special!

gaminicool and Debbie -t there was talk about tire pressure a few pages ago...

I had my web spoke rim replaced the other day - one of the bolts was missing. It was delivered that way to me. I had to look at my delivery pictures to verify

I mentioned that I was keeping my tires at 34psi. I think I'm going to try 32psi. My SA told me that he keeps his 17s at 32psi. He drives a loaded JCW and said that ride quality is great. And did you all see the post the other day about web spokes and clicking? A dealer here in Chicago replaced all 4 rims with news ones because of the clicking under warranty.

Oh and drinking in the car....

A few days after we purchased the MINI my wife and I did the usual thing and drove to our local Starbucks. We completely forgot about the cup holders until the drinks were passed to us from their window

I removed the large cupholder the first week - it made way to much plastic creaking noise!

And like Kellzir, only covered drinks (mostly bottles with caps) in the MINI for us. Coke makes 12oz plastic bottles that fit perfectly in the two front cup holders! Lately those are what I've been buying.

"So," I said after I'd had enough, "you've ruined it".

Thanks for the tire pressure info. I think we put mine at 34, but may have to change it now! That's interesting about the clicking. Was that post in the General section? I will have to look for that.

As much as I hate looking at that big cup holder, I use the stupid thing all the time...usually it's to hold my cell phone though. Mighty big for a cell phone holder though!

Debbie

Here's the web spoke clicking thread:

I'm having the clicking problem now as well

Hey, I have the same problem as well. It started within the first two weeks of owning the car.

Has anyone done an oil change? I was thinking of doing one at 3000 miles. It seems a little too long to wait until the 10k one at the dealer.

Where did everyone go?

It's been three days without a post here? Where did everyone go? I suppose with all the warm weather, it's a great time for motoring...especially for you convertible owners!

Question...anyone considering (or already have) the driving lights?

Can those be wired to that unused switch on the panel, or do they have to be mounted as a new switch?

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Actually, I'm ashamed to admit, I haven't been motoring as much as I want to. It's been too hot her in the SF Bay Area. Heat makes for a sad supercharger.

BTW, clicking for the Web wheels? I haven't heard anything from mine. What I seem to get is suspension noise (almost a clanking noise), but I've been of the mind that if it ain't actualy broke, don't even try to fix it.

Anyhoo, glad to see that this thread is still alive and kickin'!

Hey Johnny! Well no supercharger here, but I *have* been doing some Calif. motoring. I drove to Sonora, CA last weekend. Talk about hot. It was 110 degrees! Not such a pleasant drive most of the way out there--too many semi trucks and Winnebagos, and did I say trucks, but then when you hit hwy. 108, you're flying through a wide expanse of rolling hills, nothing but fields and hills as far as the eye can see. It was awesome. And then you're in the heart of gold rush country. Visited some funky old western towns. Lots of guys with handlebar mustaches chewing tobacco out there. I hung out on a farm my friends are caretaking between Sonora and the little town of Jamestown. Boy was it dusty. For those of you not that familiar with the weather out here, it doesn't rain at all in these parts in the summer. The hills turn a golden brown, the earth is downright crusty. My friends live down a long windy dirt road. The MINI, pepper white, you remember, got covered in dark red earth. Not easy for me, but the journey was so worth it! I petted a bunch of cows, picked blackberries, watched emus pull figs from a tree, talked with my friends late into the night under a starry sky. The next day, the MINI and I, covered in dust and grime, rode off into the sunset, back to our Bay Area home--and cleaned up good first chance we got! Well, that's my latest.

Hi, Crosebud! Good to hear from you again.

I actually like the foothills a lot. My dear spouse and I have spent many a lovely weekend in the likes of Sutter Creek, Jackson, Angel's Camp, etc. I really like the wineriers out there (better than Napa IMHO).

So how did your AC perform in the 108 degree heat? I've found that mine does a pretty decent job. I have the manual AC, too, which, I'm told, is more effective in the extreme heat when compared to the automatic climate control.

Well, take care, all!

Hang up and drive!

The manual AC did pretty well. It wasn't quite refrigerator cold, but it did the job. I was quite comfortable the whole time.

Oh, I forgot to mention before, for some reason when I got home from my trip, I found the rear wiper sort of dangling. Somehow, it had snapped in two at an unlikely place. I've barely used the thing--actually the only times were when I accidently turned it on while trying to find something else. Anyway, not a big deal, but a little perplexing. I don't expect it will be covered under warranty since it's snapped in to. We'll see.

Debbie,
I don't have the driving lights -- and I don't think I'll get them. As I understand it, they are purposely shut off when you turn on your high-beams. That seems backwards, but that must be how they got them past the USDOT.

That said, they sure look cool, so if for that reason alone you like 'em, hey, what the heck, buy em.

Here's a link to a PDF that describes the installation procedure. Looks like a lot of work to me.

http://www.motoringfile.com/howto/Dr...Lights_902.pdf

They have their own separate switch that is mounted to the knee bolster, you can see that in the instructions.
