Poor Debbie! Hang in there! Your car will be loaded soon, I'm sure. If not we'll find a gang of Brits to go down to Southampton and politely demand that yours be loaded right now

While my car is on the Takasago, it's been delayed by a day - not into Charleston SC until the 31st. My friends' theories about why range from pirates (Yarrr!) to icebergs (uh-oh) to Leonardo DiCaprio, in a reference to the movie about that other big ship that sailed from Southampton :P Me, i just think it's a spot of weather or something. I've waited too long to be frazzled by an extra day at this point.

The best way I've found to manage this process is to stay busy. Not much time to keep calling up MINI if you book all your time now getting stuff done! Plus, you have the added bonus of more motoring time when the car finally shows up

Cheers,
Ben

Hmmm...I hadn't thought of that. I hope I haven't driven everyone here crazy yet. Believe it or not, I'm trying to be patient...seriously.

As for your delay. I can't see pirates as fellow motorers and hopefully there are no icebergs or Leo-type situations going on. I think I'd have to go with you on the weather thing. Or maybe the Takasago crew wanted to stop and do a little deep sea fishing along the way over?

I might have to try that keeping busy thing. Problem is that I can't stop thinking about my MINI. I'll try harder!

BTW - did you guys know that there's a limit to how many images you can put in one message? Good night, Debbie

pirates are most definately the cause. they probably were fended off but their pirate claws probably poked holes in the side of the ship so they must repair these. I am quite sure of this. I saw something about it in the weekly world news.

Haha, the weekly world news. And you Brits think The Sun is a dubious news source!

Latest info on the Cypress Trail is that there are 200 MINIs scheduled to ride to NY.

This works out great! My car arrives in NY on 4/1, then spends about two days at the prep center, then about a week to catch a ride to my dealer. That would put it here around 4/10. Then a day or two for the dealer to add the Ipod adapter and general polishing, so say it will be ready about 4/12. I return from vacation on 4/13. So may have a reason to look forward to the end of vacation this time.

If your car is scheduled to be transported on the Cypress Trail you might want to do a status check. Cars have begun to be indicated as "Loaded on Vessel".

Port Huemene-bound ships

Any West Coasters have any luck on locating a ship departing 3/14? WW doesn't list mine, Kline doesn't have one, and NYK info is sparse. If we can't locate the ship, any time tables for estimates given date of departure? My MA "doesn't have access to the bill of lading info" but says her screen indicates an April 10 at port date - seems long. Just curious if anyone w/ better search skills than mine turned up any info

Hey Scott, that timetable seems pretty similar to mine:

Murray completed production on 3/16
"In Transit" (aka: "En Route") - on a vessel (NYK Capricornus Leader) 3/18
Expected arrival at Port Hueneme: 4/13

And even though my dealer could not provide the name of the vessel, or even the shipping line, they had no problem providing the Bill of Lading info.

,

I assume your dealer is Scottsdale Mini? Is Debi your MA? She's mine.

My MCC was completed on 3/11 and is "in transit", but that's all I know. Haven't asked Debi for a Bill of Lading number, was thinking about calling her-- from your experience, maybe I needn't bother.

I'm researching window tints right now, the dealer tinting options seem enormously expensive... if you have any recommendations for local tinting places, let me know!

You're correct :)

Yes, Debi's the MA I'm working with at MINI North Scottsdale and we spoke yesterday on the bill of lading and ETA. They seem to be busy but she's been helpful & responsive. She asked if I checked those chat rooms since all those owners know a lot about tracking I indicated that yes, I've explored the NAM & MINI2 sites, but no luck finding the ship. MINIUSA confirms it left/transferred to ship on 3/14 (build date 3/6) so that should help narrow the search field. Currently reads "en route" in the OL - same as you so perhaps the same ship?

My wife teaches in an elementary school & they'd like to track it as a class project - get the kids used to the technology, see the 12 minute build video, etc. No idea on tinting - I'm not currently considering it but I do know that when she went through the laundry list of dealer prep options (Scotchguard, dealer clear coat, etc. I was amazed at the prices & labor). I'm in Yuma so PHX is not an area I know other than as a tourist/infrequent visitor. Congrats on the MCC (I'll be curious to hear about the AC - we opted for the hardtop thinking w/ Yuma temps (120F in the summer easy) it would work better.

My guesstimate is, if we take as premise that the NYK or KLines seem to average 20-22 days in transit, that we are looking at early April vs. the 10th. Not so long now - Scott

Thanks! I know from the board that the bill of lading info is available but ... thanks for reinforcing it. It's not that big of a deal - we can just pick a ship and track it for the students - but I'm still naturally curious

Your schedule fits close - perhaps!

Congrats on Murray - fun name

sitting on the dock, waiting for the boat!

Argh.

You people who completed production on 3/16 make me jealous! I finished on 3/18 and am still waiting on the boat. I guess it's OK, I finished two days before schedule.

Hey! No whining! <just kidding> I finished 3/15, was booked for a boat, went into the black hole, and am still waiting on a boat. I'll keep you company because with my luck I imagine your MINI will find a boat before mine!

CONGRATULATIONS APRIL! Glad you got your boat!

Hey - anyone have the BOOKING NUMBER for the Takasago that left last week? I know it's a long shot, but I'd like to look at the VIN numbers that were loaded to see if maybe mine is there, but somehow didn't get properly updated.

And Ben...this is part of the new plan of keeping busy so that I'm not constantly worried about where my MINI is.

I can't get to 866ASKMINI from overseas but the OL shows that it is DONE! My Chili Cooper is now awaiting transport

Maybe I should buy an easyjet ticket and fly on over and make a visit to the docks See all those shiny little MINIs loading. Too bad there's no overseas delivery for us that live outside Europe.

Might as well have a seat here on the waiting couch with the rest of us.
I assume we are now hoping for the Madame Butterfly or the Resolve?

There is overseas delivery, but only for military.

Where are you picking up your car?
