Offline | Mine just completed too - it's now "completed and awaiting transport from the factory". Yay! Our order tracking for the states is +1 866 ASK MINI - a toll free number with an automated voice recognition system on the other end. Just say "Vehicle Production Status", then give them the last seven digits of your VIN number, then confirm and it gives you a pretty detailed status update. (Much better than the Owner's Lounge data online, which I don't understand at all - shouldn't they be using the same data source... oh well) Anyone know which boat is next out of Southampton? Ben |

Offline | Stupid question probably, but how do you know that your MINI is in the Paint Shop? When I track online, it just shows me that mine is Scheduled for Production. I'm so exicted though! My MINI Motoring Advisor says that my MINI will complete production on March 15th, and that it will arrive somewhere between the 1st and 2nd week in April. I was starting to think that it was going to be On Order forever - I was so excited when it changed! Now about that Paint Shop thing...did I miss something? Thanks! Debbie :-) |

Offline | Debbie- The web site is waaaaaaaay behind the telephone information. If you want to know what's really going on, call 1-866-ASK-MINI and say "Vehicle Production Status". Don't worry, it's an automated system, so you won't be troubling any real humans That is, if you're in America - I tried Magictux's VIN number from the land down under and it didn't have any information available, so it only knows about cars bound for MINI USA. ![]() The FAQ has a good list of status codes - I think the phone system reflects each of these status codes with a unique message, as opposed to the web site that groups everything together into a few big classifications. Mine's still awaiting release to carrier, according to the phone system. I just don't know enough yet to predict a vessel - the Wallenithingy Willhethingy (no way i can spell that properly, I'm not even going to try) web site doesn't have information about my car yet, and since I ordered from a dealer in NC, it could conceivably come through either NJ or Charleston SC... and on either a WW or K-Line ship, depending on when it gets booked through. Offline | My Mini Disappeared!!! Anyone ever enter their VIN and get a message on the WW site that "No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID you entered"? It seems my MCS was scheduled to be loaded on the Takasago, then the Resolve, then...NOTHING! My VIN is no longer recognized ![]() |

Offline | I hope we don't have happen to us what happened to all of the poor February build folks who had to wait a month or more to be loaded on a ship! My car changed to "has been released to a carrier and is now awaiting transport to the port of exit" today on ASK-MINI, so at least it will be there waiting patiently as soon as a ship is available. Offline | Released to Carrier Mine has also been "released to carrier" as of this morning. Yesterday evening it was still at "In the paint shop" and the OL (web) is still on "scheduled for production." I'll be curious to see what ship yours gets loaded onto and if mine also makes it ![]() Scott mc hb/w ![]() |

Offline | Good news: Your MINI still exists Bad news: It has probably been put on a non-WW ship that you can't track properly Good news: It will probably show up faster that way It could be on a K-Line ship, which is pretty common - especially for the West Coast. There are ways to track those, but they aren't precise or simple... -Eric |

Offline | Mini Newbie Hello all you March Folks! I put in the order for my baby in mid-february and I just called ASK MINI and they told me my production date was March 3rd, so that would make it the 10th week if I am correct... A few questions for everyone in the States... what were you quoted total for parts and installation for the Ipod adapter (the one that allows the ipod to sit in the glove compartment). I was quoted $495.00 from my dealer and that seemed steep to me (more than the Ipod itself!!!) Is it strange that I have checked my VIN in the WW site and it isn't showing anything just yet? I think I might be a bit paranoid, but I just wanted to see what everyone else's experience has been so far. I heard some stories about Feb production cars taking forever and a day to get across the pond. What questions specifically have you called and asked the MINI cust. relations people? How extensive is the info they can give you? Thanks a ton ![]() |

| Ramblin Man | hi ryanelp80, I was quoted $299 for the ipod adapter installed from the dealer I purchased my MINI from. One of the other 3 dealers here in Chicago quoted me $250 for the adapter. That said, I think I'm going to have the aux plug installed instead. I have it that way in my 9-3 and it works really well, especially if you get some thing like the SiK din and a ProClip . My dealer has quoted me $195 for the Aux-in installed (I think the other dealer quoted me $150 installed). My production date is this week. I want April to be here already ![]() |

Offline | I think the install takes a fair while, creating huge labour costs, so if you have engineering or electrical experience, you might want to take a stab at installing it yourself. Besides, the iPod adapter from BMW doesn't do quite as much as one would hope - you should read into the Dension Ice-Link Plus and Ice-Link 1.1 as possible alternatives. I know there have been novels written about them on MINI2 and elsewhere. The BMW adapter itself is typically $150ish for just the parts if you wanted to attempt installation yourself... don't know if it requires any coding by your dealer or not to activate it, though, so you'd want to look at the install PDF for more details. $495 sounds a tad steep though! Mine sure hasn't shown up. I wish it would (especially since i have a hard deadline of May for taking delivery of the car, since I have to drive it out to Seattle) but it could be just that it's been booked on a K-Line or NTK ship, or has been booked on a WW ship through someone other than WW. I'm not too terribly concerned...yet. Ben |

Offline | Thanks for the super-quick reply! I liked the idea of the Ipod adapter because I got the premium pkg w/ the nifty steering wheel and the idea of having all those songs at my fingertips was so cool! I have sorta looked into the other Ipod options and it seems like they all include big, bulky Ipod holders hanging off the sides of the stereo, the Ipod adapter just stores so neatly insdie the GC... I don't know what to do... $495 is SO much to add onto the price of the car as it is now.... I guess I have a while to ponder and do more research... |

Offline | Hmmm, I don't think I would try to do the install myself, I don't trust myself enough and I don't want to hurt my Baby! :P I know the Ipod Adapter doesn't do everything, but I liked the invisibility of it... being in the GC and all... which adapter would you say is the next-best thing? |

Offline | Hi people, As I was just told our MINI started production yesterday, it puts me in the March production for an April delivery (in theory that is). My MINI was purchased at one of the Chicago dealers and I was quoted 140.00 for the Aux input. (40 for the part, 100 labor) Why the differences in prices if all of this is factory stuff being installed in the same geographic area? Sure seems odd somehow, doesn't it? Anyhow, welcome to all March Production People! Here is to a calm sea and a fast boat! ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for that reassurance, Eric. I am guessing that it probably did (hopefully) land on a NYK liner. I am awaiting my MCS in Orlando, FL, hopefully by the first week of April (I ordered it on the 12th of February).. That's why I was concerned, that those K-liners usually ended up going to the west coast. -Ed |

| Motoring with Audrey | Feb. 12th huh...same here, though I'm a Feb. build, when did they finish yours (Feb. 28th for me)? Looks like you and I are in the same boat (figure of speech), both pepper whites already built and waiting for a boat. With WW passing us up, they are looking for another way to come to us. |
