Offline | I have been wondering about this stuff too. I guess I'm going to have to wait until I can see a car first-hand to see how much it shows. I like the idea behind it, but I don't want it if the lines show up something fierce. To be exact, I want to see it on a chili red mini too. Some colors may hide it better than others. I'll be lurking around to see... Randy |

Offline | BTDoyle - It looks like we're in the same boat. I'm on the Resolve (hopefully). Keep in mind that once it docks in Charleston on the 12th there is a short delay till it gets to the dealer. Better plan on another week. My mini was booked on the MB 3/23 at 10:30 am and missed the boat also ![]() |

Offline | I gather that there's a small, visible line -- there has to be, it's a millimeter thick, but apparently otherwise it's pretty much invisible if installed correctly. Part of me says to get over it, the inevitable dings and scratches are signs that your'e driving your car, the other part wants it to stay the way it looked the day I got it. I've asked my MA for a quote on the installed price -- I've seen on MINI2 that people are happily paying $700+ for alternative products. $700+ would definitely be in excess of what this protection would be worth to me. If I were one of the folks who's into waxing my MINI until it glows in the dark this wouldn't work either, but that's not me. I'd rather drive than wash. -- Roger |

Offline | Wow, if you're right about those prices, I'll just try like h*ll to be careful on the roads! I haven't priced that stuff yet (well, because my car is still around 3 weeks away yet) but I think the headlight/foglight protection may be worth it just for the cost of those lights! I have to admit, I'm ambivolent about the idea of invisishield right now. Heck, we may change our minds about 8 times before the car gets here. ![]() |

Offline | Oh i know, the 12th is about 2 weeks away right now, actually exactly two weeks away and then I added another week for it to get to the dealer. So thats about 3 weeks. I am going to have my mini for not even a month probably before I have to leave it for 2 and a half months How sad is that? As far as the invisishield is concerned. When I went to order my car from bill jacobs, one of the floor models had this on it. She quoted me a price of 550 or something really close to there for it. It looked nice, but everything looks good at first. I would be worried about it after a while and how pron it is to showing scratchs and such not. It is supposed to be easily removed too when you sick of it. I dont think I am going to go for it but if money was not such a big concern for me, I might reconsider. |

Offline | Well..this doesn't make me feel much better: Ken, I’ve checked our intranet again today…still no shipping line/ship name. I’ll keep you apprised. Regards I'll keep with the assumption that I'm on a nonWW ship already. What should I ask my MA to look for? |

Offline | invisishield I saw what my MA called a ClearBra that is $600 It looked great - but I'm not sure it's worth it. Other M2 folks say its great...I'm thinking about it becasue I don't want to deal with touch up paint and filler for the front of the car. I'm on the fence on this one |

Offline | Is it possible to be slated for a WW ship and they just don't have your car listed yet? Or does the fact that WW is not showing anything a sure sign that it's on another line ? Tom |

Offline | yeah this is the invisishield, And like i said it looks good at first but I am always concerned about the way clear plastics age and react to sunlight, ie they tend to turn opaque and look yellowish, not sure if this the case with this? |

Offline | Cool hat! Did it help to relieve the MWS? ![]() I got my first MINI accessories yesterday. My husband ordered a few items for me as an Easter present. The first pieces of my MINI to arrive were the valve stem covers - checkered flag ones! I hope the rest of the car comes in larger pieces though! He also bought me a little bag that goes over the shifter to hold things and a cute little MINI t-shirt. And I'm getting ready to order my Euro plate today. I'd been waiting for his to arrive so that I could see what it looks like. I'll have to post a pic - it looks very cute. |

Offline | More than you ever want to know from the Scotchguard Paint Protection Film website: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/_...5/_s.155/98916 ------------------------------------------------- Q. Does Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film resist yellowing? A. Yes, it resists yellowing because the film is constructed of thermoplastic urethane, a tough, conformable material that is covered by a clear coat layer. The film and clear coat layers contain UV protectants to counteract harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause yellowing. Q. What is the Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film warranty? A. 3M warrants that Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film will be free of defects in materials and manufacture — including yellowing, bubbling, or cracking — or five (5) years from date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage caused by misuse, accident, misapplication, or ordinary wear, nor does it apply to dents caused by physical impact of rocks or road debris. Some installers may choose to offer, on their own behalf, different or additional warranties or remedies, beyond the warranty and limited remedies offered by 3M. Q. Can Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film be used on headlights, foglights or windshields? A. No, it does not meet the Department of Transportation's standards for optical clarity. ------------------------------------------------ That last one's interesting, as MINI is certainly offering it as a foglight protector. So I can see how this might work -- every 5-7 years you peel this stuff off (apparently a little hair dryer action works nicely) and get it reapplied for another chunk o' change. Or you take a nice trip in your MINI and put the $5-700 in your pocket for road food. -- Roger |

Offline | I don't think you will have to wait two weeks. You're sure to catch a K-Line or the other one before having to wait for the Maersk. The company I work for exports a form of transportation too. We were talking about transport ships the other day, and the president was telling me that would be a great business to be in right now because there are way more things to be transported than there are ships to do the transporting right now. Anyone want to go in with me and buy a transport vessel? I've always wanted to drive a really big boat! We could bring MINs over and send something else back. INVISHIELD - I saw this installed on a CR convertible a while back. The dealer had installed it, and then installed the black bonnet stripes on top of it. When up really close, I could see a faint line of what looked like dirt, and that's what it turned out to be. I guess you have to be careful when cleaning to make sure you get all of the dirt. From a distance though, it wasn't noticeable to me at all...and had it been cleaned properly, I probably would not have noticed it. I thought about getting it, but decided against it. Debbie |

Offline | I've noticed that this particular forum/thread is busy compared to other ones. Could this be because we are all so eager to get our cars that we need this to occupy our time or is it because we are all just so darned cute? ![]() |

Offline | The NYK website won't give you a password unless you can prove you've shipped with them before. The K-Line site has no way to track anything. I'm going to bed. Nite everyone. Tom |

Offline | I'm guessing our car is on the same ship and already on its way accross the ocean. The Resolve leaves on the 1st..and I'm still not even booked for that. |
