Well, I checked the WW site again this morning, still nada, I found the NYK site and still found nothing. I'm starting to think that I should stop wondering about it to save myself the stress... with a production date of 3/3, you'd think it would have been loaded onto a boat already, maybe I'm overlooking something on the sites I've been looking at, I dunno... Would ASK MINI know if it has been loaded if I called them?

When you call ASK-MINI, do you have to talk to a live person to get more information than your car is currently in production, and expected date of completion is March 15th? That's what the automated system keeps saying, so I was wondering if you talk to a live person if they have more information. Of course, I don't want to seem impatient or anything.

By the way, if my car is expected to complete production on the 15th, how long from that day does it typically take one to get loaded on a boat?

I'm so excited that I just can't stand it! I realized this too. I'm going to be so disappointed if my car arrives at the dealer on a Monday and I have to wait until Saturday to go pick it up!

Got my production date today: March 21! Hurrah!

If it follows the same schedule as my last MINI, it will be loaded on the boat by March 28, and at my dealer by April 25. Got my fingers crossed.

The live person *can* give you more info - I took the opportunity to ensure that the specification they had for my car was what it was supposed to be. I had a very good experience with the live person when I called last week - he was extremely helpful and informative. On the other hand, I talked with a different live person this week, and she would only provide me with nfo that my car had started production.

It's worth a try if only to confirm your specifications - I've read several horror stories of cars being delivered that were not as-ordered.

Hmm, one week from production to boat, huh? If that rings true with my MINI, mine should have been loaded onto a boat yesterday...

That's one week from the end of production to boat. I think it took my last MINI six days. That was in May 2002, I would think they are more efficient now. I have my fingers crossed.

I called ASK MINI and my car has been sitting at the port since 3/4 with no date in sight scheduled for transport. The gentleman I spoke with said there are a few different boats coming into port within the next couple of days, but that there was no info as of yet to which mine may be put on.

I did ask him to clarify some of the things I had heard regarding West Coast (US) cars being transported more often on non-WW ships and he disputed that. He said between 80-90% of ALL MINI's are sent out on WW ships... Taking into consideration the time difference, it is unlikely and new info will pop up on my car today, but he said I should call again tomorrow, and if there is still no info, to call again on Monday... Wonder if some of that "back-up" on the Feb. cars has our March production cars back-logged?

Same here! The wait is almost over Week 12, completion on March 21. I was told it should arrive in Chicago by Apr 21.

Now I have to lock in a loan rate. My MA told me that if I apply for the BMW loan on the OL that the March rate will lock till I get [my yet to be named] MINI. Any one done this?

Yikes! I didn't even think of that! I would be so disappointed if it came in different than I requested. Thanks for the tip. I'm off to call!

Okay...I'm back. Just called and talked to a very nice guy named Jason. He read off all of my options, and then told me that my MINI was in the paint shop. Yippee! I'm so exicited..my MINI is in the paint shop!!

Wow, I think I am the last one to order in this group. I ordered March 4.

As long as it's here in time for MoT, I'll be happy. I've already sold my commuter car, so will have to rent one if I can't share hubby's car while waiting.

For the west coasters the picking's are a lot slimmer and the journey's a lot longer

SOUTHAMPTON 08/05/2005 PORT HUENEME, CA 30/05/2005 MAERSK WIND ED513-MWI 22

My baby's sitting by the docks with her thumb out trying to hitch a ride, it looks like the next ship out is 3/19.

What's slightly interesting is that the person at 866-ASK-MINI said I'd have my car in three weeks -- I don't see how.

No way! It's almost a four week voyage, then a week at the prep center, then another ride to your dealer. I think it's usually six weeks from beginning of shipping until you get it on the west coast.

What you're saying makes sense to me -- the W-W website quotes 22-24 days for the trip, and of course there's time at each end as the vehicles are loaded and off-loaded.

All very interesting, since my dealer swore when I placed the order that it'd 6-8 weeks for delivery. 8 might be possible if the stars aligned perfectly, 6 seems impossible.

Relative to the 1+ year that some folks are having to wait, I have nothing to complain about.
