Relative to the 1+ year that some folks are having to wait, I have nothing to complain about.

Yes, compared to what some people have to wait, your eight weeks is nothing.

I almost feel guilty over getting an MCSCa so fast. I have a very good dealer.

My car is on the TAMPA which left Southampton on 12th March. Next stop U.S.. Any of you American cousins have a car on the Tampa?

There's about 6 heading for Sydney, OZ.

Im confused. My mini is scheduled to be done on the 23rd of march. I checked the miniusa owners lounge today and it also says that its scheduled for production but then i clicked on the review your order detail button and it gives me my VIN number as well as my production number. If it wasnt supposed to be done till the 23rd how does it already have a VIN number? When do they assign the VIN numbers?

They assign the VIN when they commit the car to production. My VIN was assigned about a week before the car's assembly process began. Once the VIN is assigned it's too late to change the car's configuration.

Tux, I'm on the tampa with you! I'm booked and loaded, although I haven't seen that the ship has sailed as yet?

Here's to smooth sailing.

Good on ya Slide..

click on the 'voyage number' and the next screen will show the itinerary and it appears that locations that have been passed are in red.. You'll see what I mean. The ship is on it's way to the U.S.

I just hope it doesn't stop to pick up passengers as it did in 2001. I don't want to find a family of refugees claiming squatters rights on my long awaited car!!!

My baby's sitting by the docks with her thumb out trying to hitch a ride, it looks like the next ship out is 3/19.

What's slightly interesting is that the person at 866-ASK-MINI said I'd have my car in three weeks -- I don't see how.

Hmmm, thanks for the ship info (where did you find that, BTW?) I suppose IF my baby goes out on 4/19, then I might be getting it the week of 4/18...

totally OT, but is there a "what did you name your car" thread?

Week 12

Hey,

I ordered my MCC on the 9th of March. I got very lucky..because the dealer had a week 12 production slot that I could modify..so I got my order in just in time. By my calendar week 12 is the 20-26 of March ...they say my MINI is still "on order" with no production date yet. But I can't complain since I got so lucky with the order!

Would ASK MINI know if it has been loaded if I called them?

Call your dealer/motoring advisor. I had no info on the WW site, NYK has no way to track, and the owner's lounge was in limbo. So, I called my MA and he said it left Southampton on March 7th and will arrive in Charleston on March 18th. He also said it won't be very long at the distribution center before it heads off to the dealer. So, I could quite possibly get mine by the second-to-last week of the month.

congrats Ken, I was the same way when I orderd mine back on Feb. 12th. I got lucky and was built shortly there after. It's been a month now and my MINI is already on a boat (same as headly21's we think) and due to arrive on the 18th. What a long work week this is going to be. I suspect you'll be getting yours around the end of April.

And for those curious about following their MINI's, when in doubt, call ASK-MINI. They are great people and will help you out with anything you need.

Wow - you did get really lucky. I ordered mine two days after you, and mine is just finishing production tomorrow. You must have ordered at the absolute perfect time for a short waiting period. That's really cool.

Sounds like YOU are the lucky one. You ordered 2 days AFTER me and yours is finishing production tomorrow. What production week did you get? I checked with ASKMINI and they said my car is still "on order". She said week 12 was the last week of the March (that seems like week 13 to me). But I'm trying to be patient. My MA said he expected me to be motoring by mid to late April. I'm just hoping to get it by my birthday (May 17).

Ken, where are you located? And now I feel VERY special being able to receive my car so soon. At one point I was suppose to be a Week 12 production as well. Good thing that got moved up a few weeks.

Psssh, I'm a dork, what I originally meant to say was.... "if mine goes out (on the ship) on 3/19 (not 4/19), then I'll be getting it... blah, blah, blah"... My production date was actually 3/3... it's been sitting on the port/dock/whateveryoucallit since 3/4 (according to ASK MINI) and apparently, the next boat bound for So. Cal is leaving on 3/19... Too long to wait, IMO, but I do know many, many people have waited MUCH longer, I am just an impatient girl

I'm not sure what my week was - would it be week 10 if it began production on March 7th? Or is your production week the week it finishes? Mine started on the 7th and is scheduled to finish tomorrow, the 15th. I've been calling daily (2 to 3 times per day the last couple of days); it's been in the paint shop since Friday. I guess that stage takes a while, especially if you have a contrasting roof.

When ordering, I asked what the last possible day was to get my order in to get a car in April (I was having a little trouble deciding what I wanted), and I turned my order in one day before that...figured I shouldn't push it.

The last week of March counts out to be week 13 to me too! Well, I hope you get yours by your birthday...that would be a very nice present! I don't know all of the time schedules, but I was kind of hoping to get mine by your birthday too! I figure with what I've been hearing about boat loading though, that I should go ahead and plan for the following week...just so I won't be disappointed. It's really hard to wait though, wouldn't you say?

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Debbie
