Offline | Insurance At what point is people getting insurance? Especially when financing and going through a bank? My mini should be at the dealership tomorrow, but I won't get it for another month, since it will be shipped to me. I went and got insurance today, to hurry up the process to deal with my loan and to pay the dealer. Now what should my effective date on the policy be? It is effective today, but I won't get the car for awhile. Also, my VIN was incorrect to the insurance company. So the agent put the wrong VIN # down, and told me to bring the car by when I get it to fix it on the policy. Has anyone experienced this? Also could I have my effective date changed to when I get my hands on the car? |

Offline | Japanese I don't know Japanese - only phrases from Styx (Domo ari gato Mr. Roboto ) and the errant phrase from repeated playing of Hayao Miyazaki's films for my children (Totoro, Castle in the Sky, etc.) w/ English subtitles. FWIW - When I ran the name through Google only Japanese translations popped up on the first page. It's great to see the first arrivals and should be fun across the next couple weeks (Mick included - that's a looong trip.Scott |

Offline | Insurance USAA here - phone call from the dealer on the day of delivery to confirm insurance but they actually extend insurance on any vehicle, including a new one, for a couple days. I believe the dealer needs proof of insurance for financing so you may need to have in effect (paid) even though you don't have the vehicle in your possession. Effective date change? That'd probably be a carrier/underwriter decision and you'd need to contact them. VIN should be an easy fix, but FWIW, when I coordinated w/ NHSTA concerning air bag switch deactivation (no longer needed as out 05's have the new weight sensors in the seats), they couldn't recognize the VIN from the OL but it may take some time to be processed in the US. For MINI advertisement enthusiasts - the 4/11 AUTOWEEK has the "counterfeit MINI" brochure/poster - it's fun. |

Offline | I know that looks odd, please see this old post for an explanation: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showpost....58&postcount=6 The car that's at the dealer is my dealer's first attempt, since I have the production number for it I can track it. If they'd gotten it right the first time, I'd be on my way to pick it up this weekend, instead it'll probably be (I hope) the 17th before I can get it. 10 LONG DAYS! Yoiks. The dealer (which otherwise has been just fine) is Desert MINI in Las Vegas. |

Offline | Steve, I'm in a similar situation. I just talked to my MA tonight and she told me that my car should be ready by tuesday. She doesn't work on tuesdays and we want her to be there since we have dealt with her all along so we are waiting until wednesday to go up and grab our car. Soooo, pics will be up soon thereafter. Dang, all this waiting will be finally coming to an end. Yea, I like the idea of that! BTW, as I'm sure all the Chicago dealership people know, they are coming in by the truckload according to the MA. LOTS of Minis will be going out the door this week. And a lot of them are in our little band of indians here. (yes, I'm part indian so I can say that )Taz (that's indian for "Walks like a wounded Yak") |

Offline | That picture is the best thing I've ever seen posted on MINI2. I was browsing the forums with a bunch of friends gathered around here in our hotel room and all five of us just started screaming in laughter! ![]() Ben |

Offline | It's the same as the regular wave, except you have less chance of getting a wave back I started waving to MINIs a few months ago, and got a few weird looks and a few laughing folks waving right back... but it was fun each time!As far as I'm concerned, anyone who likes the MINI is part of the club... if a little kid waves at me from the back of the family truckster, I'm sure gonna wave back! Offline | For the West Coasters who may have docked yesterday Okay, so now ASK MINI is back to saying that the car is in transit. I suppose that could mean that they're going to move it from the dock to the VDC today?!? That would/could be defined as "transit". Maddening. ![]() |

Offline | Ken, Until you actually receive your MINI it's inappropriate to wave at MINIs. If you just give a look of breathless anticipation, they'll understand. Oh. There is going to be a delay in the Resolve leaving NJ. It seems that Buckingham Palace found out that my MINI was on it and well....you can imagine the rest. The Queen is coming over, big reception, etc. We'll try to wrap it up as soon as possible but we don't want to offend anyone. Sorry Ken. Tom |

| Ramblin Man | Since I need some thing to keep me from going crazy on my daily commute to work each day till the MINI arrives , I've started to whip up some t-shirt ideas. At the moment I only have Photoshop Elements on my notebook. This design was done with it. Too many limitations to do anything properly and serious with Elements. So in a few moments I'll install Illustrator 10 and Photoshop 7 and do things right! Comments and criticisms welcome ...disclaimer: it's my first attempt at design since completing my BFA 10 years ago ![]() BTW - I'm keeping things simple, a few solid colors, etc, to keep costs down if we decide to get any of these printed. I would like suggestions on tag lines! More designs to come! -paul |

Offline | Tag Line Hi - I'm not a BFA or MFA but I perceive the design to be "busy" vs. "clean & clear" - perhaps focusing on one design detail of the 05 model or one car might help. I think the overlapping images may contribute to this perception. Tag lines - I think "A Sparkle of MINI's" is genius - see posts earlier in this thread where it was coined - Sparkle could resonate in the design across image and text. "March MINI Production 2005" could cross the bottom. A small series of distinct frontal views, emphasis on bright headlamps (deisgn or a touch of color) might work? 2nd idea - March 2002 MINI came to the US - so we have three years to celebrate, so something that picks up on this might be fn. IMHO - FWIW - fun idea - Scott |

Offline | West Coast Update Hi - I just called to check after reading your post and at 9:04 this morning it still states "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel" - why the difference, no idea .... It very well could mean your was processed quickly and mine is waiting for a tractor/trailer transport to Arizona/in that general direction. Scott |
