Yeah, I know what you mean. My husband and I have the same MA. He already has his car. He had to e-mail our MA the other day to ask a few questions. One of his questions was if I was driving him (the MA) as crazy as I was driving him with all of the excitement about my MINI being built. I think he thinks that he was the lucky one just picking his off of the showroom, but I think this part has been a lot of fun. I've really liked tracking my car. I might not feel that way if it get's delayed though!

Got the first update in a while on my car's status... it's still waiting in Southampton, but now the M/V Takasago has begun its voyage! It's left Germany (the Germany line turned red on the Wallenius Wilhelmson site) and is on its way to Belgium... three more days until it picks up my baby in England, barring any last minute rerouting of my car!

Anyone else on the Takasago?

Ben

false alarm

Called into ASKMINI today and accidently gave the wrong production number...said my car was on it's way to the shipping facility. I got so excited... but I double checked..and it's still on order oops..I'm glad I didn't call all my friends.

Hey Ben, I can't believe your MINI isn't on a boat already! As of this morning, mine changed to Awaiting Transport, so I guess it's headed to the shipyard. Maybe it's possible that they will both be delivered to Flow on the same truck...unless mine gets to wait at the port for a few weeks.

Oh, can someone tell me how to find out what boat you're on? Is there a thread about all of that? Of course, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Have a great day! Debbie

how do you know where in the assembly line it is such as the paint shop and all that. I called miniusa and used the automated service and all they ever give me is the estimated completion date tell me that its scheduled for production...

I think you have to get that from a live REP on ASKMINI

Ken,

I'm in Atlanta too.

Looks like we may get our cabrios at the same time. I also ordered from Global and mine is being built this week I'm looking at delivery around Mid-April (hopefully).

We should get in contact with each other when our Minis arrive

With mine, it seemed like the automated part of the system was a day or two behind what you find out if you actually talk to a real person. On Friday night, the automated system just said mine was in production with a date of completion, but a live person told me it was in the paint shop. On Saturday, the automated system seemed to catch up with what the CS guy told me. And all of that is so much faster than the web site...which you probably already knew.

Sounds great! My MA (Jon) seems nice...but they seem a little slammed at the moment with orders. What week did you get 11, 12 or 13?

I feel guilty about talking to a CS. I guess I don't want them to know how anxious I am about getting it. I just imagine they get phonecalls all day of people saying "When!??! When??!!" but I haven't heard any stories about CSs being annoyed or impatient.

Here's a question..how often do people check ASKMINI?

Week 12 Build Date - a few Questions...

I too have a week 12 build date for my Cooper S, which by my calendar is next week.

I read in another thread about some changes coming on line the first of April - the poster said it would make everyone want to wait - but he couldn't say what the changes were. Anyone have any idea??? I can't for the life of me think of something that would make me want to wait.

I mean if it's bigger cup holders or more padding on the door - that's not worth waiting for. Even the 05 changes weren't that drastic, but I am glad I waited to that.

Question #2 - I didn't order the LSD - do I really want it? Will I notice a difference? What's it really do in day to day driving?

Thanks - the wait is KILLING me.

Jeff

I've called only once since ordering, but I read somewhere on our forums here that one guy/girl was calling atleast twice a day.

I can't believe it either! It will be twelve days from the time it was built (3/5) until the time it is loaded on a ship. The Takasago leaves Southampton on the 17th, so yours may make it if you get lucky... mine went from Awaiting Transport to "Released to Carrier awaiting transport to Port of Exit" to "awaiting a shipping vessel", where I am right now.

The FAQ answers a lot of this, but the short easy answer is that you want to go to http://www.2wglobal.com/ and put your car's VIN number into their Auto Cargo tracking page. I showed up on that list a day after I was "released to carrier"...

Here's hoping my car has good company on its journey to north carolina by way of Charleston SC and the BMW plant in Spartanburg!

LOL, well, seems as though it is common... the waiting period, I mean. My MINI was done on 3/3, and still has not left the dock...

UPDATE! I just called ASK MINI and my car actually FINALLY left the port!!! It went out yesterday! WOOHOO!

aww, thanks! I am really happy! I don't believe it is going out on a WW ship, though, since I have been diligently checking the site with my VIN and it has no info available. I was told my the woman at ASK MINI to contact my MA to find out when the estimated delivery date is. I'm west coast, so it will take a little while to get here, but, boy, I am anxious... and I'm sure I'll stay that way till I get my hands on Valentine (I finally named my baby)...
