Qs for Caz and others w/order delays

Caz: I hope you're reading this. From what I have been able to find you finally received your MCS. Did you receive any sort of recompense from your dealer for being such a jack-off?

Would be interested to know how others in a similar situation handled their frustrations after long delays and/or being kept in the dark about their orders. Did you cancel your order, switch dealerships, and/or otherwise wooed with flowers/chocolate/etc.? And if you did cancel, is your deposit refunded?

I'm nearing 10 days past the initial pick-up date, and either my sales guy is too busy to pick up the phone or is screening my calls Just so I'm not coming off as REALLY anxious I try to call about every 2-3 days, but to be honest it's testing my patience now that I get no news unless I phone. I've already sold my car and it's becoming a PITA sharing one car with my husband, not to mention that my insurance policy kicked in on the 17th for the MINI. I didn't order the HK soundsystem so I'm in the dark about the recent delays.

Thanks!

Clearing the decks for delivery

I put my Subaru and 57 Dodge truck in the paper last weekend. $140 worth of well-written ads and not a SINGLE NIBBLE! This resulted in all sorts of soul searching, with me wondering if placing my order before lining up sales of the old vehicles wasn't among the stupidest things I'd ever done.

But this morning on the drive to work I tuned into a radio flea market on a local station. When I got to work I dialed, and dialed, and dialed. Finally got through as the very last caller of the show, described the Subaru (could only list one vehicle at a time) and just a few seconds after hanging up the phone started ringing!

The very first couple to come for a look this afternoon took it for a TWO HOUR test drive and I was simmering, sure they had used my gas for a free trip to the big city for a shopping spree. But they finally came back and handed me a check for the full amount, no haggling involved!

So Nugget is half paid for already and I have a month to sell the old Dodge truck! Woohoo! pb

Congrats, Boondox! I had to put my F-150 up before I was allowed to order the MINI. My wife would have preferred it didn't sell so quickly! :-) I did luck out, and only had to shell out for two run-'til-it-sells ads ($60 or $80 total, I don't remember, now). It sold after a week (to the only serious person) and we were on our way!

Just over a month to go, now... *sigh*

Hi all

Sorry if this has been answered before, but has anyone taken delivery of an April build yet and can confirm if there was any additions to the interior? There were rumours of changes starting in the April build but nothing was specified. I'm curious as I am waiting for a late March build but possibly an April build....

cheers

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying - only just saw your message. No, I didn't cancel my order. Having waited so long I just couldn't face going elsewhere. Recompense was very little after all the hassle (a bouquet of flowers and card from "the team" at the dealers, a cleaning kit - and that's about all). I was so thrilled to finally pick up my car that I tended to overlook some of the problems I'd had. However, the courtesy call I was promised after 48 hours did not materialise and their finance guy has tried to sell me a protection plan insurance policy which turned out to have serious flaws in it (but that's another story for another thread I think).
Sorry to hear about your problems - I too had to share a car for a few weeks and that was an absolute pain. I hope your problems are resolved now - do keep me posted. I really do sympathise.
P.S. the car is brilliant and I have no complaints with her (just the lousy dealer!)

Hey Guys, want some help. My HB/W MCS Chilli was ordered end March but was a Dealer order, told commenced 1st week April for Delivery July.

Couple of Questions.
1. If Commenced April when is VIN number allocated so that you check in Owners Lounge. Dealer advised chassis commenced, but VIN not yet allocated.
2. Do you track via a different number?
3. Is www.miniusa.com the correct Owners Lounge to track?
4. Based on above is this correct thread?

Appreciate comments

What a relief, last Friday I was told by ASK MINI that they couldn't tell me where he was in the production line. I had nightmares all weekend that production had not even started.

I'm in that neverland right now! In production as of last Thursday 4/21, but no details other than an expected completion date the week of 5/2. I'm trying to visually Nugget coming together, but it's hard with no knowledge of his progression thru the steps.

Are you shipping to the USA? (Your flag appears to be that of Australia I believe) If not I don't think you'll get the pleasure (really it's a pain and takes over your life) of tracking.

In transit

Just got word from ASKMINI that my car is in transit. Anyone else have theirs in transit to the west coast? Wondering how much longer and if anyone who might be on the same ship has an ETA? Only info dealer (Long Beach Mini) has is the completion dat of April 17.

jdtdds-
I'm on a boat (centaurus leader) to the west coast that left the 16th. Haven't seen anything on mini's OL that shows another one after that. We didn't find out we were on a boat until about 4 days after it had left and that was thru our MA's. The ASK MINI was a day behind that and the web a couple behind that. So, based on that you may have salied several days ago. I would suggest starting a thread on the miniusa site and see how many others going the west coast in your time frame. Unfortunately tracking west coast boats is pretty non existent. But getting a group together helps as some MA's seem to get (or relay) info better than others. Good Luck.
Latest estimate shows our boat due to arrive on the 4th and I can't wait!!!

There are already a couple of threads going on at ol.miniusa.com about
west coast delivery, and the "Centaurus Leader" in particular. It's scheduled
to arrive in San Diego on the 3rd, and then departing to Port Hueneme on the
4th... but that's a far as we know (there are quite a few of us in the same boat,
so to say).

So "SideCar" is just off the coast of South Carolina or thereabouts...

Question for anyone who might know.
I went to the OL earlier today to check the status there and clicked on "Review Order Detail". There is a new entry that I've not seen before it's "Estimated Delivery Date"

What exactly is this date? Is it delivery to my dealer or to me (estimated that is)?

I'm starting to:
1. get impatient.
2. run out of lease miles on my VW Jetta.

By the way.. The date is NEXT FRIDAY (May 8th)

(Don't you just hate all those icons sometimes)

You must have ordered from Long Beach just before I did. My completion was April 26th I'm awaiting loading on a ship. Long Beach should be able to tell you what carrier you are on. WW or K line. Unfortunately ASKMINI can't as I found out this morning. I'm going to bug Long Beach in a couple of days for carrier name. Have they given you an approximate delivery date?
Congratulations Though!

United-States Undine

My MCS was completed on the 14th. It's been awaiting a vessel since then. Yesterday, the status changed to "En Route". The only WW departure to Port Hueneme that I can see is the Undine.

Origin: SOUTHAMPTON
Departure: 29/04/2005
Destination: PORT HUENEME, CA
Arrival: 22/05/2005
Vessel: UNDINE
Voyage: ED512-UND
Duration: 23 days

The Falstaff departed on 4/22, and my status didn't change until yesterday, so is it a good conclusion that it made the Undine?

Anxious...

Into the paint shop!

Ernest T. Nugget entered the paint shop late yesterday. So let's say today (4/29) is his first full day in the land of technicolor. MiniUSA says he'll be completed by May 4th. Is that enough time for them to paint him and assemble all the various pieces-parts that make up a car? Less than a week from bare body to finished car..?
