I keep thinking I must be missing it somewhere, but I don't see a thread for MINIs due in May 2005. Is there one?
My MINI finally went from "On Order" to "Scheduled for Production" just two days ago after sitting at "On Order" for exactly a month. Anyone else have one due in May? I can't be the only one.
Sheesh, got all nervous, then read the news article. Somehow the idea of MINI stopping production over a war between tea and "posh" coffees didn't sound too likely...
My MCS went "scheduled for production at the beginning of April. I have learned a lot by reading Mini2 for a couple of years, glad that most of the early kinks have been ironed out by Mini. Anyone else out there from the Portland area?
I called 1-866-ASK-MINI a couple days ago and was told that my completion date was scheduled for April 9th or 10th. I assume from there it goes to paint?
The lady at that phone number was extremely friendly and hepful; didn't seem to mind my calling for a status update at all. She encouraged me to call back any time I wanted an update.
I need to learn all the right abbreviations for what my MINI has...
lessee...
- MCS convertible, CR/B, white bonnet stripes
- automatic transmission (never driven a stick, I admit it.)
- with just every package they offered, except the... what was it called... whichever one gave it about 5 more horsepower. Didn't go with that one.
- onboard navigation system (I get lost a LOT.)
- 17" wheels, don't remember the exact type. But they're mighty purty.
Now he just needs a name! (It's a he... not sure why.) Oh, and I need a nice black MINI baseball cap. I have very long hair and in a convertible, I'm going to have to put it up every time I drive if I want to avoid having dreadlocks by the time I get where I'm going...
Oh! And no Portland here... I'm in Austin.
Edited to add: Villa Mini, your signature photo is beautiful! I love those subtle checkerboard stripes.

Reason: forgot to add something
Not to tell you what thread to post in, but if your car is being built this month (in April), you should join the April production group. That way you will be going through everything with those whose cars are being built at the same time as yours.
By the way, I checked out your specs - your MINI is going to be SWEET! Good luck with your production. Hope it's speedy and that you make it on the boat quickly. To me, the boat part was the hardest!
Mine went to scheduled for production some time last week with completion the first week of May (looking like May 2nd!) My dealer had quoted my delivery date as Aug 30th when I ordered March 30th. I am probably going to get my Cooper S two months early . I am getting really excited now.
My baby:
Cooper S Hyper Blue / Black
Cold Weather Package
Convience Package
Premium Package
Xenon Headlights DSC
Limited-Slip
Harmon-Kardon Hi-Fi
Mine is scheduled for production May 2 according to customer relations, though the Website still shows it on order with no production date set. Specs:
White over yellow, no sunroof (felt the big black rectangle would look funny on a white roof)
Cold weather package
Sport package
Anthracite interior
Onboard computer
Rear fog lamp
MF steering wheel with cruise
Spare set of 15 inch rims for my snow tires (from Ebay)
But the wait has resulted in major nail biting behaviour here!!!
Okay, now I'm confused. Just called again and was told production scheduled to begin the week of April 25th -- one week ahead of the original date I was given. Do they often bump dates forward as other orders are cancelled, or are they just confused?
Just called again (okay, I'm obsessive-compulsive when it comes to my Mini...his name is Ernie) and they told me he was entering production TODAY, with a completion date of May 4th. Not that I'm upset that he's being assembled early, but the Website still has me listed as On Order.

I just called ASK MINI and found out there my vehicle is now scheduled for production on the 19th of May. Looks like the delay due to the H/K stereo was only 2 weeks . If all goes well I should see my Cooper S mid-late June
