VIN Number Received

I ordered my MCS on 4/18/5. I received my VIN number today, 4/29/5. Is that fast? Now that I have the VIN number, how do I continue to track the remaining steps of the delivery process (in production, on dock, on boat...) to the dealer?

Go to MiniUSA.com, click on the Owners' Center, register and you'll be able to follow it. You could also call MiniUSA toll free at 866-275-6464 and follow the voice prompts. Read the FAQ here; it's full of valuable information. Good luck, and try not to bite your nails too much!

Shouldn't I get more detailed information such as a production date, in paint shop... , when my status is 'scheduled for production', or is this as detailed as it gets?

Please read the FAQ and other threads on this topic. It's all there. In short, the online status is vague and several days behind. pb

Looks like our MINIs will probably be on the same boat. I got my VIN on thursday

As for the OL. I don't think you will see anything detailed there. ASK MINI gives more information (like the completion date.)

Got my VIN Friday! Ahh...now just a few more weeks.
As for a delivery date, your dealer should be able to give you the approx. week it will be delivered.

Got our VIN Saturday 4/30 I'm curious for the folks that just got their VIN.

My production number is 67678XX are you in the same approximate range of production numbers?

I've been told to expect production to start around May 5th.

6767XXX. I called yesterday and they told me the car went "into production" April 29 @ 5:33 am. I also got a date of May 11. Not sure if that is for actual assembly or what.

OK, I called last night with 67678XX and was told that I went into production on April 29th and expect completion of May 12th. So it does sound like the production number is the order they roll down the line.

Mine is being delivered to Indianapolis and I was given this time line.

7-8 days for production so although May 12th is planned, expect May 7th.
3-5 days to transport to ship at Southampton.
12-14 days on water to Charlotte
3 days prep at Charlotte
1-2 days truck to Indy.

That is like 32 days. from production start. Hope it is true.

I don't think that MINIs are produced in order by their production number. Mine is a 678 number and went into production last week with an estimated completion (according to ASK MINI) of 5/9. I am expecting that it will be finished much sooner than that

Okay, your number is after mine so my theory is toast!

Thanks for sharing the information.

Good luck on your new Mini. Hopefully we'll find the ship they are on and be able to track them across the water.

I called 866-ask-mini with my VIN number, and they said production will be completed on May 8th. Then I suppose on to the docks in Southhampton, England, boat ride thru the Panama canal to Oxnard, CA., and finally the ride to the dealer in Las Vegas. My dealer says mid June is arrival date. I'll fly into Vegas (work for the airline) and drive it home to the SF area.

I found only three dealers in the west that sold the Minis for MSRP. South Bay Mini, Torrence CA., Murray Mini, Salt Lake City Utah, and Desert Mini, Las Vegas Nevada. Desert Mini had the shortest delivery time, 6-8 weeks, of the three.

I'll let you all know my timing on all this.

Well here it is May 8th and Mini said the car would finish production this day and its status changed to awaiting transportation. Checked the web site and it appears to be right on schedule; the status now is 'awaiting transportation'. So far so good.

Checked the boat for my VIN number , but found nothing there. Well its Sunday, and I read some where that that status may last three days...

More later.

I ran into another web site (http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=29139) that states WW shipping does NOT ship to Port Hueneme, CA. The NYK line was mentioned as being the shipper from Southhampton to Port Hueneme. Does anyone have any info on this??

More chat on this subject can be found at:
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=29139.

NYK does not have VIN search capabilities...

Here's their info:

5/11/05 - car is on the docks waiting for shipment. This is what ASK-MINI says when called and the car is on the dock: "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel"

5/19/5 - Car has now left Southampton bound for Port Hueneme CA. aboard the NYK-LINE vessel PROCYON LEADER. Got the call sign, H3BZ, for the PROCYON LEADER from http://cgmix.uscg.mil/psix/PSIX2/VesselSearch.asp.

I went to http://www.oceanweather.com/data/index.html, choosing the "Marine Observation" Icon circle, to see if there were any weather data points submitted from H3BZ. None yet, maybe too early since it set sail just yesterday.

Las Vegas dealer says ship should arrive at Port Hueneme on 6/8. The dealer claims it takes a week to go thru the vehicle inspection station and on to the dealer's lot which would make it 6/15 arrival date.

So far so good. Purchased the car on 4/16, the dealer said it would be 6-8 weeks, which hits right on 6/15.

More later.

That is what I have been waiting to read. Our MINIs are on the same ship and my dealer hasn't given me an eta yet.

T - 18 days to PH
T - 25 days (worst case) to the dealer
